Q&A With The Williams Companies Employees
IDX: 25 TOT: 47
How difficult is it to maintain a social life while in your job at The Williams Companies?
Virtually impossible. They ask for everything you have, don't bother to say thank you, then demand more.
How do you feel about going to work at The Williams Companies everyday?
Eh, not horrible but not excited. If I have a good opportunity and chance to jump ship, I'll do it.
How's the feedback proccess at The Williams Companies?
Like a rumor mill. It's completely screwed up and inside out, no structure.
What kind of people succeed at The Williams Companies?
Brown-nosers, and those willing to make ethically challenged decisions to keep operations happy rather than doing the right thing.
How can I improve my chances of being hired at The Williams Companies?
Education, competency, and experience. You need to be able to demonstrate the ability to think fast on your feet while still making very accurate decisions, work crazy hours without getting tired, and have a deep understanding of the industry and relevant regulatory requirements. If you can't do that off the top of your head, you won't make it through the interview process.
How secure do you feel at your job at The Williams Companies?
No more secure than in any other job I've had in oil & gas over the past 10 years. They're all shaky.
How's the morale at The Williams Companies?
Hit or miss, depends on location. It's not awful, but there's been a lot of change in the past several years and some of it has not been for the better. So many mergers and acquisitions, plus several rounds of layoffs, in addition to the uncertainty in the energy sector, have left people very uncomfortable.
What's the office layout like at The Williams Companies?
Depends on your location. Most offices are cubes, fairly decent sizes. Old though and in need of remodeling.
How much diversity is there among employees at The Williams Companies?
Very little. Not as hard on women as some companies, but it's still very much a good old boys company. Minority races are fine as long as they're American born and speak English, it's women and foreigners that are going to have the most issues.
What's one thing you wish you'd known before joining The Williams Companies?
How completely disorganized and chaotic the company is, including leadership. Nice people, but no structure or planning.
