Many modern-day consumers are willing to pay more for ethically sourced, sustainably manufactured goods and services, which means diners are often willing to pay more to eat at restaurants that practice sustainability, ethical sourcing, and other environmentally conscious business practices. Aligning your restaurant's brand with a cause – like environmental protection, children's literacy, animal rights, or disaster relief – can also help you build a positive rapport with your local community and likeminded individuals. It may open your restaurant up to new event hosting, sponsorship, and advertising opportunities.
We are committed to minimizing our use of natural resources and production of waste and to working toward net zero emissions in an effort to mitigate climate change.
Social impact is an important mission at Toast and is part of our company's purpose of enriching the food experience for all and making the world a healthier, greener, and more equitable place.
In 2018, we launched the philanthropic branch of the company, Toast.org. We have organized our philanthropic efforts across three impact pillars:
1. Food, focused on addressing hunger and food insecurity
2. Community, focused on creating a more inclusive, equitable restaurant industry by solving critical issues in the front of house and back of house with respect to labor equality, food access, and capacity-building in BIPOC and immigrant-led restaurants
3. Environment, focused on topics like food waste and ensuring that food gets to those who need it, while working to mitigate the industry’s carbon footprint
