Great company to work for, as far as salary and benefits are concerned. If you have ambitions... you need to be part of a very closed circle. Just being good at your job is not nearly enough for a promotion in UCB.
Great company as far as environment and benefits are concerned. Unfortunately, there is no meritocracy within the company. Roles are given away to friends and allies, instead to people who deserve them. It's common to see inexperienced people in command of people that have deep knowledge and skills.
It is a good workplace but you will never be promoted unless you know the "right" people. The company is fair in financial terms, treats employees in a really good way but unfortunately has allowed some of them to form their own groups and decide based on their own interests rather than meritocracy.
It is a very good company
The compamy and colleabues arent bad but the culture here isnt as friendly as other companies within this space. They also dont offer things like stock units or options unless you work for a specific TA
