Mr. William B. Plummer, also known as Bill, has been the Chief Financial Officer and Executive Vice President at United Rentals, Inc. since December 1, 2008. Mr. Plummer serves as the Chief Financial Officer and Executive Vice President of United Rentals (North America) Inc. He has more than two decades of financial leadership experience. He served as the Chief Financial Officer and Executive Vice President of Dow Jones & Co. Inc. from September 5, 2006 to 2007. He was responsible for all Dow Jones's finance, accounting, treasury, tax, investor relations, internal audit, general services and facilities functions and also led its strategic planning process. Mr. Plummer joined Dow Jones & Co. Inc. in September 2006 from Alcoa Inc., where Mr. Plummer served as Vice President and Treasurer from October 2000 to April 11, 2007 and was responsible for its global funding, cash management, hedging, insurance risk management, bank and rating agency relationship management and real estate activities. He joined Alcoa Inc. in October 2000. From June 2000 to October 2000, he served as the President of Gilbert Paper Division at Mead Corporation and served as its Vice President of Corporate Strategy and Planning from July 1998 to June 2000 and from February 1997 to June 1998, served as its Treasurer. He joined General Electric Capital Corp. in 1990 and held various financial roles with it and General Electric Company. Mr. Plummer served as Vice President of Equity Capital Group at General Electric Capital Corp. from 1995 to January 1997. He began his career as an Aerodynamics Engineer at Lockheed, California Company in 1981. He worked a total of four years at Goldman, Sachs & Company and Kidder, Peabody & Company. He has been a Director of John Wiley & Sons Inc. since 2003. He has been an Independent Director of Global Payments Inc. since March 6, 2017. He serves as a Director of Integris Metals Corp. and of its subsidiary, Integris Metals, Inc. He served as an Independent Director of UIL Holdings Corporation from 2013 to December 16, 2015. He is a Member of Financial Executives International and the New York Society of Security Analysts. He holds the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation. Mr. Plummer received an MBA from Stanford University in 1986 and also earned B.S and M.S degrees in Aeronautics and Astronautics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1980 and 1982, respectively.
