There is too much work and too few results, and stock has been overvalued since the IPO making compensation subpar. The founders and execs are well-paid, and everyone else gets pennies and constant busy work. It's not a good place to work from a personal finance perspective.

Equity comp was not corrected after the stock crash, leaving packages far less valuable than promised for post-IPO joiners. True-ups were weak, but execs kept getting huge blocks of equity despite poor business performance.

90% of the people I work with are fantastic and among the best coworkers I've had. That is hard for a company to achieve. Upstart puts a big emphasis on finding humble, smart, hardworking people and it creates a great work environment.
