You start off very engaged when speaking with the Recruiter but as the process continues and you speak with HR, there are red flags that should be addressed.

We are gaining popularity but lose out to competition due to salary and compensation perks.
If you could make changes, how would you improve the culture at Upwork?
Recognize those who are passionate about the company. Contractor or not, we should be included.
How's the work life balance at Upwork?
It is good.
What are you most excited about working at Upwork?
I am not as excited as I once was. They definitely treat contractors different. Work hard, go above and beyond and represent their company in high regards, you will be sadly disappointed. My advice to anyone contracting is to not get your hopes up and think you're part of the team because they will make it very clear you are not.
Why do you feel undervalued and what would make you feel better about your compensation at Upwork?
add another 10% base salary, another 10K in stock, and +5% bonus, and then we're ok.
