  • UrbanSitter gift cards can be purchased from the UrbanSitter.com website and are the perfect gift for the busy parent in your life who deserves a night out (or day off!). Gift cards are sent instantly via email, or you can email it to yourself to print at home and hand-deliver to your recipient.

    You can purchase an UrbanSitter gift cardon our Gift Cards page accessed on a desktop or mobile web browser. Purchasing gift cards is currently unavailable on the UrbanSitter app.

    After you click Purchase Gift, you'll be prompted to log in to your UrbanSitter account. If you don't already have an account, we'll ask you to create a free account to input your payment information for the purchase.Click Redeem Gift to redeem a gift card to your Credits page.

    Once logged in, we'll take you to the purchase page for you to fill out the details. Fill out the gift card amount, recipient information, and an optional message. If you'd like the gift card emailed to yourself so you can send it to your recipient directly, make sure to enter your email address in the Recipient's email field! Then enter your credit card details and click Purchase.Gift cards are available in any amount from $5 to $2,000.

    Your gift card will be instantly sent to the Recipient's email, and you'll be emailed a receipt. Success!

    We ask that you create a free account with us to capture your payment information for the purchase. Signing up is totally free, and you won't be required to upgrade to a membership plan in order to buy your gift card. You can always unsubscribe from email notifications and remove your credit card information from the account after your gift card purchase, or email Member Services to deactivate your account.

    Terms of Service

    Subject to UrbanSitter, Inc.s . Recipient must become a registered user of UrbanSitter with valid credit card on file to redeem gift card. May be used toward babysitting services, membership plans, or fees. Restrictions include sitter availability, sitters who accept online payment, and service to requested location (not all areas served).

    When the gift card is redeemed, UrbanSitter credit will be applied to the recipients subsequent UrbanSitter transactions until their credit balance reaches $0. If a transaction exceeds the recipients UrbanSitter credit amount, the balance will be charged to the credit card on file with the recipients UrbanSitter account.

    Not redeemable for cash. No refunds, returns, or exchanges. Non-transferable once credit has been placed in User's account. UrbanSitter is not responsible if an UrbanSitter gift card is lost, stolen or used without permission. UrbanSitter reserves the right to modify these terms.

    Navigate to your Account's Credits page by clicking 'Your Account' then 'Credits' at the top right of your screen. Enter the promotional or gift card code in the 'Voucher code' field, then click 'Redeem'.

    Once your credit is successfully redeemed on your account, a green banner will appear at the top of your page to confirm:

    If you receive a red error message instead that reads "Sorry! This code is not valid..." please double check your voucher code. If you continue to receive this message, feel free to contact Support.

    iPhone App

    Click the Menu button in the top right corner of your screen, click 'Account' then 'Credits'. Enter the promotional or gift card code in the 'Voucher code' field, then click 'Redeem'.

    Android App

    Click the Menu button in the top leftcorner of your screen, click 'Account' then scroll to 'Credits'. Enter the promotional or gift card code in the field, then click 'Redeem'.

    Your creditspage will have a list of all credits that have been redeemed on your account - beginning with available credit that has yet to be used, and ending with credit that has been used or has since expired. Please note that UrbanSitter credits apply in three different ways:

    Credits that are applicable to membership fees will automatically apply towards your next membership fee

    Credits that are applicable to sitter payments will automatically apply towards your next sitter payment

    Credits that are applicable to both membership fees andsitter paymentswillautomatically applytowards your next transaction, whichever comes first

    For example, this parent has an available credit of $15 on her account. While she is confirming her latest sitter's payment, she sees her credit automatically deducted from the subtotal.

  • Before you can be paid for babysitting jobs by credit card and express interest in credit card jobs, you will need to add your direct deposit information to your account. When parents pay by credit card, the money is deposited right into your bank account. It's secure and free of charge!Of course, some parents may still opt to pay you in cash.

    You can easily add your direct deposit information on your account's Payment page. Enter your first and last name, the type of account your paymentwill be deposited to, and that account's Account and Routing numbers. Then click the box to accept the Payment Terms and authorize UrbanSitter to deposit your funds. Finally, click 'Add Direct Deposit' and get ready to start accepting credit card payments from parents!     Here's how to do so on the UrbanSitter website, iOS app, and Android app:

    Once your direct deposit information is confirmed, you will see a badge on your profile indicating that you're all set up to receive credit card payments on UrbanSitter!

    Please double check your Accountand Routingnumbers to ensure that they are correct. As a note, our payment system can only accept payment information for bank accounts located within the United States.   • UrbanSitter membership for parents comeswith unlimited access to UrbanSitter bookings and tools, including the ability to easily pay sitters via credit card. You will be able to schedule as many interview or job bookings as you like, with no additional UrbanSitter Fees. You can cancel or change your UrbanSitter Membership Plan at any time.     You are eligible to receive a refund for your most recent Membership purchase by emailing Support within 30days of the start of your most recent billing cycle as long as you have not contacted or booked any sitters within or after those 30 days. This policy is applicable to all membership types and if you cancel at any other time, you are ineligible for a refund. However, you will continue to have unlimited access to message and book trustworthy sitters in your area through the end of your billing cycle!

    Reach out to the parent or employer with your personal recommendation link

    Theycreate a free account andwrite you a recommendation

    The recommendation appears on your profile as afive-star review!

    Completing Your Profile FAQs

    You can request a recommendation by sending your personal recommendation link. Access this from your sitter profile under 'Get reviews' or from your Success Guide under 'Get reviews'. Simply copy the link and send to the parent, colleague, or past employer via email, text message, etc.

    Please notethat they will need to create an UrbanSitter account in order to submit your recommendation, and they can do so for free (without purchasing a membership) when submitting your recommendation on your profile accessed via the UrbanSitter.com website, not the apps.

  • With a membership plan, parents on UrbanSitter have unlimited access to message, interview, and book local sitters to fulfill their childcare needs.If you need to cancel your membership, you'll retain your membership benefits until the end of your billing cycle. When youre ready to contact new sitters, you will be prompted to select a new membership plan!

    Membership Refund Policy

    Scroll down to Account Basics then click Change or Cancel Membership. If instead of canceling your membership you'd like to change to a different membership option, you can explore the options on this page (learn more here !) If not,click Cancel Membership Plan.

    To confirm your membership cancellation, click Cancel Now. We then ask that you to give us some information about why you're canceling so we can better understand your experience and improve for next time! Once successful, you'll see the following success banner then be returned to your Settings page where you can see that your membership was successfully canceled and when it will expire.

  • If your current membership plan isn't working for you, you can easily change your plan to one of our different membership options so you can continue to enjoy the benefits of an UrbanSitter membership while meeting the needs of your family.When you change your membership, your current plan will be switched to your new plan and we'll charge your credit card on file the transition fee (and follow up via email to confirm!).

    To change your membership, access your Settings page from the drop-down menu next to your profile picture (accessible via a web or mobile web browser - not yet available on the UrbanSitter app).

    Scroll down to Account Basics then click Change or Cancel Membership. Review our membership options, select your new plan, then click Save Changes. You'll see a green banner pop up that confirms this change.

    Our Member Services team will then make this change to your membership, charge your card on file the transition fee, and follow up with you via the email address associated with your account.Once your membership change is confirmed, your new membership and next billing date will appear on yourpage.

To be an approved sitter on UrbanSitter, sitters are required to have an active membership and a cleared background check. Membership is $24.95/year and there are no other fees or charges - sitters keep 100% of their booking payments.

    Whats included in my membership?

    The annual sitter membership allows you access to all of UrbanSitters booking, messaging, and payment tools so you can find, schedule, and get paid for babysitting jobs. Membership also comes with a required background check thats necessary for sitters to clear in order to start booking jobs. Sitters apply to jobs on the Job Board and message with parents to set up interviews and job bookings - and get paid via direct deposit through the site.     Your membership comes with a required background check and badge for your profile when you pass a third-party check with our safety partner, Evident ID. Membership also offers assistance with any booking, payment, or trust & safety issues from our dedicated Member Services team.

    The annual membership comes at a fee of $24.95 and unlocks a full year of membership benefits with no additional fees. All booking payments go directly to the sitter - UrbanSitter does not take a cut of your pay.

    How do I purchase my membership?

    While accessing UrbanSitter.com or the UrbanSitter app, click the Purchase Membership button on your homepage then enter your credit card details to buy your membership plan. The annual membership comes at a fee of $24.95 and is non-refundable.

    Terms of Service

    After you successfully purchase your membership, follow the steps to submit your background check information to our check provider, Evident ID. Youll also be emailed instructions to begin the background check. Communication will be sent to the email address on your UrbanSitter account, so make sure to double-check that yours is accurate on your Settings page (accessible via web).

    Once your information is submitted, Evident ID will process your background check. Once completed and cleared, youll earn a background check badge on your sitter profile thats good for the length of your membership.

    Has a family offered to pay for your membership? Ask them to tip you the cost or email [email protected] to pay directly.

    What will the background check cover?

    Background checks are processed by our third-party safety partner Evident ID and include the following:

    SSN Trace

    Nationwide Sex Offender Registry Check

    Global Watchlist Check of terrorist, sanction, and other watchlists

    National Criminal Search for history of felony and misdemeanors

    Progressive county searches based on adverse records

    Evident ID reports available criminal records dating back 7 years in accordance with federal law and the industry standard for background check lookback periods.

    Youll need to provide your social security number to complete the background check, and Evident ID will take care of the rest. Background checks are typically processed within 2-3 business days. Once cleared, a background check badge will display on your sitter profile for one year from your membership purchase date.

    If you haven't submitted your background check within 30 days of purchasing your membership, the link will be expired. Email us to get your new link.To request a copy of your background check results, learn more here.

    How do I become approved?

    If youre a sitter new to UrbanSitter, you need a complete profile, active membership, and a cleared background check in order to be approved to start booking jobs. Once you have all the requirements and completed the steps on your Approval Checklist, your profile will be submitted for review by our team. When approved, your profile will be up and ready to connect with families! Learn more about sitter profile requirements and approval here.

    If youre an active sitter who was previously approved on UrbanSitter, youll need to meet these requirements to keep your status on UrbanSitter. Without a membership, your profile will be hidden from new families. You will be able to continue messaging parentsyou'vealready been in contact with, but you will not be able to schedule bookings or find new opportunities on the Job Board. Your profile information, booking history, and reviews will still be available.

    If you do not clear the background check you will be notified via email as well. Your profile will be closed and you will no longer have access to UrbanSitter.

    Please note that all bookings and associated credit card payments scheduled before November 1st, 2019 will continue as expected, regardless of your status.

    Will I need to renew my membership? Can I cancel?

    To check the status of your membership plan, go to your Settings page on the web and navigate to the Next Billing Date section of Account Basics.

    If there is no next billing date (None) this means your membership is not set to renew and will expire at the end of your billing cycle. The end of your billing cycle is one year from the date you purchased your membership. You can review this date on your Transactions page under Plan fees or by hovering over your background check badge on the web. Once your membership expires, youll be able to purchase a new year of membership at any point!

    If there is a date listed (i.e. September 16, 2020) this means your membership is set to automatically renew on that date (the end of your current memberships billing cycle). Your card on file will be charged the membership fee and youll be granted another year of membership. Renewing memberships can be canceled anytime. See instructions below.

    Each new year of membership will come with a new background check that sitters are required to clear in order to stay active on UrbanSitter. Without an active membership and cleared background check, you will lose access to UrbanSitter tools and your profile will be hidden. Rest assured well send you a notification reminding you to re-purchase your membership before your membership expires.

    To ensure youdon'tlose access, youll be able to purchase your next year of membership and begin your new background check during the last month of your current membership cycle. Since background checks can take 2-3 business days to process, this will give you enough time to ensure your background check is completed and cleared before your current membership expires so your profile doesnt get hidden.

    We recommend purchasing your new membership early to allow for uninterrupted access to UrbanSitter. Rest assured that even if you do, you'll still receive a full year of membership benefits and your next membership cycle will not begin until your current cycle ends.

    Take fellow sitter Sarahs example: Sarah purchased her membership on November 15, 2019 and sees that its set to renew on November 15, 2020. After October 15, 2020, Sarah gets a notification reminding her that her membership is going to renew soon, and because she doesnt want her profile to be hidden, she purchases her next year of membership that day. Sarah then submits her information and her background check clears the next day. On November 15, 2020, her membership renews - and with a new year of membership and new, cleared background check, Sarahs profile stays active and unhidden. Although Sarah was able to purchase her next membership and begin her new background check early (during her current membership cycle), she will still have a full year of membership benefits from November 15, 2020 to November 15, 2021. Success!

    If youdon'twish for your membership to continue, you can cancel at any time before the end of your billing cycle. Your membership will remain active until the end of your billing cycle andwon'tautomatically renew. To cancel, go to your Settings page on the web and navigate to Membership in the Account Basics section, then click Cancel Membership Plan > Yes. However, without an active membership and cleared background check, your sitter profile will be hidden and youwon'tbe able to access the Job Board, new families, or any of our booking, messaging, and payment tools.

    What if I already paid for a background check through UrbanSitter?

    Sitters who purchased and passed a background check prior to August 29, 2019 have received a free membership until one year after their background check cleared. Each sitter who qualifies for a free membership has been notified via email with their specific date. We want to ensure that sitters who have already invested in their account by purchasing a check in the past are not required to make another purchase within the same 12-month period.

    If you had previously purchased a background check during the period of the 3-year background check badge, please email Member Services to receive a free membership each year through your 3-year term. Please note you will be required to complete and clear a new background check each year to retain your membership and access to the site.

    What do I do next?

    When youre ready to get started with UrbanSitter, create your sitter account then begin filling out your sitter profile and browsing available jobs on the Job Board.

    New Sitters

    When you create a sitter account on UrbanSitter, your sitter profile is your place to shine - you'll fill out information about your background, availability, rates, and more for parents to view while they're browsing potential caregivers.

    As you're getting started, you'll see this banner at the top of your screen. Until you're approved, your profile will be hidden from connecting with families.

    On your homepage, there will be your Approval Checklist to guide you through the sitter profile requirements. Fill out the About Me (bio) section, upload a photo of yourself, and add your hourly rates to your profile. Then, purchase the annual membership for sitters and submit the included background check.     Once you complete the steps, your profile will be submitted for approval and reviewed by our Member Services team. We do our best to review all sitter profiles within 7 days, however, it can take up to two full weeks. While your profile is being reviewed, you'll see this banner at the top of your screen:

    Until your profile is approved, it will be hidden from parent search results and you will not be able to express interest in jobs. Want your profile to be fast-tracked? Make sure to upload your profile video and direct deposit information and your profile will be reviewed with priority.

    What do I need on my sitter profile?

    Our team will review your sitter profile to make sure it best promotes your personality and babysitting experience, while meeting our Terms of Service. A completed profile includes the following:

    A profile bio or About Me where you share your education and sitter experience as well as hobbies, fun facts, etc. This is where parents will get to know you! Review our About Me guide: What are parents looking for in an About Me?

    A profile photo that clearly identifies you and does not include anyone else. This is often a parent's first impression of you as a potential sitter! Check out our FAQ: How To Select And Upload A Great Profile Picture

    Your babysitting rates which indicate your minimum and maximum rates per hour, per number of children. Parents can always book you at higher rates!

    Add your location information to let parents know where youre willing to work. This is key for showing up in search results and viewing jobs on the Job Board!

    A profile video that showcases your personality and experiences as a babysitter. For more information, check out our Profile Video FAQs *optional but strongly recommended

    Your direct deposit information to receive payment from parents via credit card and express interest in credit card jobs *optional but strongly recommended

    While you're waiting for your profile to be approved: make sure to add availability to your calendar so parents will know when you can work once you're approved!

    How will I know when I'm approved?

    Information about your background check and profile approval status will be sent via email.Please make sure that you have access to and regularly check the email address associated with your UrbanSitter account, as we will notify you of your profile status at that email address. You can view and update your email address on your Settings page (accessible via the web).Once you're approved, your sitter profile will be unhidden and visible to parents - you'll be all set to start expressing interest in jobs and receiving booking requests from parents!     Already Approved Sitters

    If you've previously had an active or unhidden UrbanSitter account but your profile is now hidden, you will need to meet the current requirements ofhaving an active membership and cleared background checkbefore continuing as an approved sitter. Once you meet the requirements, your profile will be submitted for re-approval.     If you had a previously approved profile but created a new one, we won't be able to approve your new profile as we don't allow sitters to maintain more than one account. If you are not able to access your active account, try resetting your password on the main home page, or view our FAQ for more information. If you no longer have access to the email address on your previous account, please feel free to email us to let us know.

    If your sitter profile has already been approved, your profile may be hidden temporarily or permanently if information comes to our attention that our team needs to review and investigate due to a breach in our Terms of Service. Investigations are completed in as short of a time as possible, however they can take up to two weeks to complete. We appreciate your patience while we do our best to foster and uphold the UrbanSitter community as the safest and most reliable & trustworthy marketplace for childcare possible!

    How do sitters meet these requirements?

    All sitters on UrbanSitter are required to have an active membership and cleared background check in order to be approved to connect with families and book jobs. Sitter memberships come at a fee of $24.95 allowing sitters a full year of access to UrbanSitters booking & payment tools. Background checks are processed by our third-party safety partner and require a valid social security number. Before final approval, our Member Services team also manually reviews each sitter profile to meet our standards.

    What if my sitter does not purchase a membership or pass a background check?

    If a sitter you already work with does not purchase a membership and clear the required background check, you will still be able to message them on UrbanSitter and your accepted bookings will complete as expected. However, you will not be able to book them for new jobs and their profile will no longer show up in search results. Regardless of your sitter's membership status, any booking and associated credit card payment scheduled prior to November 1, 2019 will go on without disruption.

    Some parents have opted to cover the cost of their sitters membership fee. Simply tip them the cost or email us to pay directly.

    If a sitter does not pass their background check, their profile will be closed and they will no longer have access to UrbanSitter. As a result, youwon'tbe able to message them or book them for jobs.

    Prior to August 29, 2019, sitters on UrbanSitter became approved after a profile and background review which included a series of offender registries, watchlists, and publicly available criminal records based on the information provided. Sitters earned an additional background check badge by clearing a background check through our third-party provider, purchased by the sitter or a parent they work with. Sitters who were background checked before this date will satisfy the current requirement to be an approved sitter - and when their previous background check expires, theyll need to clear a new check to stay active on UrbanSitter.

    Can I purchase an upgraded background check or Motor Vehicle Record check for a sitter?

    Yes! While browsing UrbanSitter, you can rest assured that every sitter has cleared the basic background check requirement.

    We also offer parents the opportunity to purchase an upgraded background check or driving record check for a specific sitter through our background check partner Evident ID. Upgraded background checks offer a more extensive search of a sitters current county of residence. Driving record checks require a valid drivers license to pass and provide a thorough look into a sitters driving history - which is a great option if youre looking for a sitter to drive for your family. Parents can also purchase the same basic background check as the sitter requirement but will provide up-to-date results.

    To request a background check, click the background check banner at the bottom of the Search page. Or, send us an email at [email protected] using the subject line: Upgraded Background Check Request for [Sitter Name].

    Upon receiving the background check results, we will disclose each component's status of either pass or fail. We are not authorized to send the parent the full background check, however, the sitter may do so upon their discretion. Background check fees are non-refundable.

    Jobs you've expressed interest in will appear when you filter by 'Expressed Interest' under 'More Filters'. You can also click 'Hide Job' on the right of the page to hide the job from the Job Board - these jobs will show up when you filter by 'Hidden Jobs'.

  • When a parent wants to book you for a job, they will either send you a bookingorinterview request and you will be notified on the site as well as by email, text, or app notification depending on your settings. Parents search for sitters in their area who are available for a certain date & time or commitment, so make sure to keep youravailabilityupdated on your sitter calendar and profile !

    You can view your new booking request under the ' Bookings ' tab filtered by type: 'Active Bookings'. Click the green text to view the details of the job- yay!

    On the Booking Details page you will be able to see the date and time of the job, parent's name, any social connections youmight have, the job details (including number of children, rate, payment method, and job tasks), and the parent's message to you.

    If you're available for the job and it's the right fit for you, click 'Accept'! If not, you can click 'Decline' and send a polite message back to the parent. Once you've accepted or declined the job, the parent will be notified and you will be able to message the parent. Please note that when clicking 'Accept' you accept all the job details, including rate and payment method, as you cannot negotiate the original booking terms after accepting.

  • Credit card payments are the best (and most secure) way to get paid for babysitting jobs on UrbanSitter. Your payment information is securely stored and you receive 100% of your earnings, with no fees taken or percentages docked from your pay. To get set up, add your direct deposit information to your account and parents will see on your profile that you're all set to receive payments via credit card!

    When parents book you via credit card, your earnings from the job will be processed through the site - the parent's credit card will be charged and you'll receive your payment via direct deposit. At the end of a credit card booking, we'll prompt you to confirm the hours you worked. Under 'Are you expecting payment for this job?' make sure to select 'Yes, expecting bank deposit'. Then, confirm the hours you worked by adjusting the start and end time (if applicable) and send an optional message to the parent. Finally, click 'Confirm'!

    We'll send a message to the parent asking them to confirm yourpayment and add an optional tip. Once the parent confirms, we'll initiate your deposit!

    Payments typically take 2-3 business days to land in your bank account.   • If you are making a permanent move and need to update your address, you can do so by editing your location details on your Profile.Please note that currently the function to edit your location detailsis available on the UrbanSitter website accessed on a desktop or mobile web browser, and is not featured on the UrbanSitter app.

  • Adding your credit card information to your account allows you to skip the ATM and pay your sitters via credit card! Payment for your membership plan is also billed automatically to yourcredit card on file. UrbanSitter does not collect any fees from credit card payments and we partner with the leaders in payment security to ensure that your information is safely stored.

    You can add or update your credit card information by navigating to your Account's Payment page.Here's how to do soonthe UrbanSitter website accessed on a desktop or mobile web browser, and on the iPhoneand Android app:

    Sitter Search

    You can use the Sitter Search tool to browse sitters in your area who are background checked, available for a certain time, close to your neighborhood, and those with specific experiences and qualifications. If you see a sitter who looks like a good fit for your family while searching, you can click their profile picture to see their full profile, availability calendar, and reviews - or send them anInterviewrequest,Booking request, or message. Click the 'Favorites' tab to display your favorite sitters that meet your search results.

    This parent is searching for a sitter who is available part-time, lives less than 10 miles away, available in the mornings and afternoons T-Th, and has experience with Autism. Don't see a match just yet? Post a job to the Sitter Community, or save your search and get notified of new matches!

    A. Select Your Search Type

    Need a sitter for an evening out, an after school sitter, or full-time nanny? Filter by 'Type' in the top left corner. Options include: All sitters and nannies, occasional sitters, full-time sitters/nannies and part-time sitters/nannies.Need a sitter who is available for a certain date and time?When searching by type: all sitters and nannies and occasional sitters, click the 'Select a date' field and choose which date you need a sitter, then toggle the start and end times. Clicking 'Apply' will display sitters who are available on that date and time.

    B. Refine Your Search with Filters

    If you're looking for a full-time or part-time sitter, you'll be able to filter by sitters' general availabilities. In the 'Generally Available' section, click the 'Edit' button to select general times during the day that you need a sitter for. Clicking 'Apply' will filter your search results by sitters who are generally available for those times.

    The 'More Filters' section is featured on all search types. There you will find the majority of search filters you can apply to your search results to find the perfect sitter.

    Posting a Job

    Finding a nanny for your two kids or a sitter for your date-night is easy when you Post a Job to the sitter Job Board. In your Job Post you can detail the dates, times, hourly rate, children's ages, job tasks, perks & more for theone-time or recurring job you need childcare for. Sitters who are available and suited for the opportunity will express interest in the job, and you'll be able to reach out to one or many of those sitters. Its a great way to provide detailed information about what youre looking for in a sitter, and sitters will expressinterest knowing the full details of your childcare need.

    You can either post aone-time job for a specific date and time or arecurring job on a regular basis. Here's a look into a one-time job post:

    Selecting the job's date, start time, and end time.

    Entering your family's information and location, and setting a rate and payment method.

    Selecting keytasks and perks of the job, and adding any necessarydetails. Please don't share personal contact information!

    Posting forrecurring careis simple too - you can describe your schedule and detail if your need is part or full time, and what days and times the job will occur.

    Regardless of your type of Job Post, you're also welcome to add optional screening questions to your post for sitters to answer to get a better idea of sitters' personalities and babysitting philosophies. Once you've completed all the steps, click 'Post Job!'

    Once your job is posted, sitters who are available willexpress interestin your job and we'll notify you via email. You can go back to your posted job and click 'View Interested Sitters' to review these sitters, and from there you'll be able to send sitters an Interview request, Booking request, or messageby clicking the grey and green buttons to the right of your screen.

  • If you are having issues adding direct deposit, you can troubleshoot the issue in the following ways:

    Ensure that the name you provided us on your Payment Page is the name as it appears on your billing statements.

    Ensure that the account you are providing is located in the United States.

    Confirm that the electronic routing number you are providing is correct. For some banks, the electronic routing number is not the routing number you will find on a paper check. If you are having any issues identifying the correct number, you should reach out to your bank to confirm the correct information.

  • Ifyou'vecompleted a booking and are prompted to confirm the hours you worked when you have already received a cash payment, don't fret! You can confirm that you were already paid in cash on the booking page. This will ensure that the parent is not accidentally charged via credit card for these hours.

    As a note, accidentally confirming a credit card payment when you were already paid in cash can cause a great deal of stress for parents and result in action being taken on your account. Please handle with care!

    To confirm a cash payment, go to your Bookings page and navigate to the booking you were prompted to confirm your hours for and click the 'Confirm Hours' button.

    Payments FAQs

    Under 'Are you expecting payment for this job?' you will see a list of options, including 'No, I was paid cash' as seen in the screenshots below. After indicating that you were paid in cash, the credit card payment process will close and the parents card will not be charged.

    Here's how to confirm a cash paymenton the UrbanSitter website, iPhone app, Android app, and a mobile web browser:

  • The UrbanSitter platform is designed as an onlinemarketplace for parents and sitters to connect for childcare bookings, and as such, we are not an employer of sitters. We believe babysitters should be paid a fair wage and have published an annual survey to assist parents in determining how much to pay their babysitter or nanny. The current average babysitting rate across the United States for one child is $16.75 per hour. Las Vegas has the least expensive babysitter rates at $11.63 per hour for one child whereas San Francisco topped the list at $18.75 per hour for one child!

    That being said, payment arrangements are made directly between parents and sitters as detailed in job posts and booking details under the 'Rate' section. Minimum wage laws apply to most babysitting jobs, but not all. To find out more details, we encourage both sitters and parents to familiarize themselves with the local minimum wage laws. UrbanSitter honors the federal minimum wage and does not allow parents to post jobs at rates below $8 per hour.

  • Paying sitters on UrbanSitter issimple, especiallyvia credit card! You can pay your sitter for a booking with just a few clicks: theykeep 100% of their earnings and you don't pay any transaction fees. To get started using credit card payments, you must first have a valid credit card on file.

    The majority of sitters on UrbanSitter are set up to accept credit card payments from parents. To confirm that this is the case for an individual sitter, look for the following badgeon the right side of the sitters profile.

    When I tried to pay my sitter it said that there was a problem with my credit card. What do I do? FAQ

    Parents select Credit or Cash as the payment type when submitting a booking request to a sitter. If something changes, you can still switch the payment type beforethe booking is set to occur. To do so, simply find the accepted booking via your Bookings page and click 'Change to...' button.

  • On UrbanSitter, canceling your membershipstops your automatic membership payment and deactivating your account closes your account and renders you inactive. Find more detailed information below!

    Canceling your membership sets your Monthly or Annual membership plan to expire at the end of yourcurrent billing cycle. After your membership expires you still retain access to your UrbanSitter account on a free plan, including all booking and transaction details. If you would no longer like to be charged for an UrbanSitter membership but would like to continue having access to your account, this is the best option.

    How Do I Pay Sitters Via Credit Card? FAQ

    To re-process your sitter payment, you will need to update your credit card information. You can do so by clicking 'Update Credit Card Information' from the booking page, or by navigating to 'Your Account' in the upper rightcorner of the page, then selecting 'Payment'.

    This will take you to the following page where you can delete your outdated credit card information and add your new information. Our Payment Terms can be viewed here.

    Once you've updated your credit card information to your current, valid credit card, return to the booking page to confirm your sitter's payment. Simply click 'Confirm Hours and Pay', confirm your sitter's hours and add an optional tip, then finally click 'Continue' to submit payment.

    Please note that unlike membership payments, payments to sitters are not automatically reprocessed once the credit card information is updated.

  • Parents who use FSA benefits in accordance with UrbanSitter pay their sitters for each booking via credit card to maintain accurate and verifiable records of sitter payments. At the end of the year (or benefit period), parents are then welcome to download a spreadsheet detailing their booking and payment history right from our website!

    To do so, access your UrbanSitter account on the website > drop-down menu > Transactions > click "Print-friendly view" > follow your internet browser's instructions to print the page.Please note that your transaction history will include all completed sitter payments via credit card as cash payments are not verified by UrbanSitter.

    Please note that when it comes toendof year taxes or FSA reports, we share UrbanSitter's records or EIN in correlation to the fees paid directly to UrbanSitter. It is our understanding that to claim babysitter hours and the payment made for tax or expense purposes, you will need to obtain the SSN of the sitters. Each sitter would need to provide that to you on an individual basis.   • If the charge for yourmembership renewalfee was unsuccessful due to an issue with your credit card, you will be notified via email and prompted to update your credit card information on your Payment page. Our system will attempt to re-process this charge and if successful, your membership will continue. If after the six-day grace period you do not update your credit card, your membership will be automatically downgraded and your account will have limited access to contact and book sitters. You're always welcome to re-upgrade your account to a membership plan to continue on your sitter search!

  • If youre a parent just getting started with UrbanSitter, you can search for sitters near you and filter by certain qualifications, review unlimited sitter profiles (videos and reviews included), and post a job to the sitter community. When the time comes to message, interview, or book a sitter, you'll need to upgrade your account to a paid membership plan.

    To upgrade,access your Settings page from the drop-down menu next to your profile picture. If you're on the UrbanSitter app, simply begin to contact a sitter and you'll be presented with our options to upgrade from there!

    Membership Refund Policy

    From this page, click Add a Plan to review your membership optionsand select which is right for you and your family's needs. Or, click the Upgrade button to the right under Get a plan.

    Your card on file (you'll have a chance to add it here!) will be charged the membership fee and you'll be all set with unlimited access to UrbanSitter bookings and tools, including:

  • Your profile photo is often the first impression a parent will have of you as a potential sitter for their family. It is important to have one that is friendly and inviting. Putting a little effort into finding a great photo will help set you up for success and get your profile approved faster!

    We require all sitters to have an acceptable profile photo in order for their profile to be approvedand visible to parents. Profile photos shouldclearly identify the sitter and not include anyone else besides the sitter. Use a current photo of yourself that you feel accurately represents who you are today.

    Listed below are some Dos and Don'ts to help you choose a great photo for your profile.

    Do:

    Choose a photo that is friendly and inviting - a smiling headshot is perfect!

    Select one that is clearly identifiable, and not taken from too far away- the parent should be able to identifyyou in person based on your photo

    Pick a well-lit photo that shows your entire face, chin to forehead-avoidwearing sunglasses or hats

    Choose one that is well-lit and allows parents to see your eyes- we recommend a close-up photo

    Pick one which presents you as you would appear to parents- show off your personality!

    Examples of great profile photos:

    Don't:

    Don't include other people in the picture- such as children, family members, etc.

    Don't choose a picture where you are partying or doing something controversial-we recommend choosing a professional photo

    Don't be too far away in the picture-parents won't be able to recognize you if you're too far away!

    Don't choose a photo where you look significantly different from how you do today- a current photo is best

    Don't choose a photo that has heavy filters or is taken from a drastic angle- don't letelements of thephotodistract parents from you!

  • On UrbanSitter, both parents and sitters are expected to follow through on every accepted booking. This includes Phone Interviews, In-Person Interviews, and Babysitting Jobs (bookings). Our ultimate goal is to maintain a community that will provide a reliable experience forboth parents and sitters!

    Negotiating Booking Details

    After accepting a job, sitters are expected to adhere to all booking details and terms.The terms of a booking include the payment method (cash or credit), hourly rate, number of children, time, and location of the booking. Sitters have the ability to decline booking requests when they are not the right fit. If a sitter finds they cannot agree to all terms of the booking, we ask that they politely decline the request.

    We routinely advise sitters not to negotiate booking terms after accepting a job. Repeated reports of these negotiations may result in a probationary period or permanent action on the sitter's account.

    Cancellations

    Both parents and sitters are expected to uphold their booking commitments. However, we do understand that life can lead to unexpected circumstances which may cause a member to cancel a booking. If either member needs tocancel in case of an emergency, they should officially 'cancel' the booking through UrbanSitter as soon as possible. Cancellations come at the inconvenience of the other member, so immediately notifying the parent or sitter allows the member to make other arrangements.

    When canceling a booking, members have the opportunity to select a reason for canceling as well as add a personal note. The reasons include: 'illness or emergency', 'sitter/parent canceled', or 'other'. If you are canceling the booking because the other member canceled verbally or through text, make sure to select the reason'sitter/parent canceled'.

    No-Shows

    Not showing up to an accepted booking, especially without communication, is not acceptable conduct on UrbanSitter. If a parent or sitter is a no-show for a booking, itshould be reported as soon as possible by contacting UrbanSitter Support at [email protected] or by flagging the member's profile. Our Member Services Team takes action in regards to every reported no-show.

    Expressing Interest

    We expect sitters not to "Express Interest" in jobs they do not intend to fulfill as posted. Sitters should only express interest in jobs that they would like to provide childcare for with the proposed booking terms. The terms of a booking include the payment method, hourly rate, number of children, time, and location of the booking. If a jobisn'tthe right fit, we encourage sitters to look for other job opportunities on the Job Board.

    Problematic Reliability Concerns

    We review all cancellations and no-shows in detail and use all the information available to us to determine if a cancellation or no-show will warrant action taken on the member's account. Each situation merits its own review, but we abide by the following guidelines in our review process to determine which reliability concerns are problematic:

    When did the member cancel?The closer to the date and time of the job that you cancel, the more concerning it is, with no-shows being the most serious.

    Is this a first-time booking?The fewer times the parent and sitter have worked together, the more concerning the cancellation is canceling on your first bookingwith aparent or sitteris the most serious.

    What was the reason given?We evaluate cancellations and no-shows based on the reason provided by the member.

    To protect the member experience on UrbanSitter, UrbanSitter reserves the right, in its full discretion, to take corrective action on members' accounts. Our Reliability Policy is in place in order to maintain the quality of the UrbanSitter platformand to ensure that members can trust the reliability of others.

    While we recognize that life does happen, members deemed to be unreliable may have action taken on their account, including permanent account closure. These members would beremoved from UrbanSitterfor being in violation of our Terms of Service and Community Guidelines.

  • How Do I Book Multiple Sitters For The Same Job? FAQ

    Finding a nanny for your two kids or a sitter for your date-night is easy when you Post a Job to the sitter Job Board. In your Job Post you can detail the dates, times, hourly rate, children's ages, job tasks, perks & more for theone-time or recurring job you need childcare for. Sitters who are available and suited for the opportunity will express interest in the job, and you'll be able to reach out to one or many of those sitters. Its a great way to provide detailed information about what youre looking for in a sitter, and sitters will expressinterest knowing the full details of your childcare need.

    You can either post aone-time job for a specific date and time or arecurring job on a regular basis. Here's a look into a one-time job post:

    Selecting the job's date, start time, and end time.

    Entering your family's information and location, and setting a rate and payment method.

    Selecting keytasks and perks of the job, and adding any necessarydetails. Please don't share personal contact information!

    Posting forrecurring careis simple too - you can describe your schedule and detail if your need is part or full time, and what days and times the job will occur.

    Regardless of your type of Job Post, you're also welcome to add optional screening questions to your post for sitters to answer to get a better idea of sitters' personalities and babysitting philosophies. Once you've completed all the steps, click 'Post Job!'

    Once your job is posted, sitters who are available willexpress interestin your job and we'll notify you via email. You can go back to your posted job and click 'View Interested Sitters' to review these sitters, and from there you'll be able to send sitters an Interview request, Booking request, or messageby clicking the grey and green buttons to the right of your screen.

    Starting Your Search

    To get started on your search, navigate to the Home page or the Saved Searches page and select your search type for anAfter School, Full Time, orOther Part Timesearch.

    You can also get started straight from the Search page by filtering your search by Type: Full-time sitters/nannies or Part-time sitters/nannies. Once you've applied your preferred filters, click the green 'Save Search' button.

    Refining Your Search

    After you select your search type, we'll pull some quick details from your parent Profile (such as number of children and home address) to quickly get you started on your search. When you click 'Continue', you'll also be prompted to post your job's need to the sitter community where sitters can express their interest in your job.Learn more about posting a job here.

    Once you've started your search, you can apply additional filters and sorting options to the left of the page. In the 'Generally Available' section, click the 'Edit' button to select general times during the day that you need a sitter for. Clicking 'Apply' will filter your search results by sitters who are generally available for those times.

    Under 'More Filters' you can refine your search results by applying filters including distance from you, maximum rate, languages spoken, special experiences and qualifications, and transportation options. You can also search by name and sort your resultsby best match, lowest rate, most reviews, connected to me, and closest distance.

    Click 'Update Saved Search' to apply these filters and update your search results. You'll be prompted to enter a custom name for your search and select when to receive email notifications. Click 'Save' to update!

    Viewing Your Search Results

    Navigate to the Saved Searches page to view and make changes to your saved searches. You'll see an overview of each search including the date created, applied filters, and your email notification settings. Choose to receive email notifications of new matches 'Instantly' or 'Never'. This is also where you can delete a search after you've found your perfect sitter.

    Click the green title of your search to get started viewing sitters. Here's where you'll see a list of available sitters who match your search criteria and any applied filters. On the left of the page, you can make changes to your preferred sitter's general availability by clicking 'Edit' below the mini calendar. Under 'More Filters', feel free to add, remove, or update any filters that meet your childcare need.

    Every time that you make an update to your search (such as applying a new filter or changing your search type), you'll be prompted to either update your existing search with these changes or save your updates as a new search. Customize the name of your search and your email notifications here as well!

    While browsing your search results, each sitter will have a snapshot of their profile and sitter history including their general availability, average review rating, common social groups, and any previous bookings or messages you've exchanged.If you see a sitter who looks like a good fit for your family,

    click their profile picture or name to view their full profile, availability calendar, and reviews

Click the 'Favorites' tab to display your favorite sitters that meet your search results.

    This parent is searching for a sitter who is available part-time, lives less than 10 miles away, available in the mornings and afternoons T-Th, and has experience with Autism. Don't see a match just yet? Post a job to the Sitter Community, or save your search and get notified of new matches!

    A. Select Your Search Type

    Need a sitter for an evening out, an after school sitter, or full-time nanny? Filter by 'Type' in the top left corner. Options include: All sitters and nannies, occasional sitters, full-time sitters/nannies and part-time sitters/nannies.Need a sitter who is available for a certain date and time?When searching by type: all sitters and nannies and occasional sitters, click the 'Select a date' field and choose which date you need a sitter, then toggle the start and end times. Clicking 'Apply' will display sitters who are available on that date and time.

    B. Refine Your Search with Filters

    If you're looking for a full-time or part-time sitter, you'll be able to filter by sitters' general availabilities. In the 'Generally Available' section, click the 'Edit' button to select general times during the day that you need a sitter for. Clicking 'Apply' will filter your search results by sitters who are generally available for those times.

    The 'More Filters' section is featured on all search types. There you will find the majority of search filters you can apply to your search results to find the perfect sitter.

    How Do I Find Sitters?

    Favoriting is a simple tool that savesyour most-loved sitters toyour home page so you can easily locate them for future booking or interview requests.You can add a private note about your favorite sitter (to help you remember why you liked them so much!) and enter important scheduling notes.Please note that sitters are not notified that you have favorited (or unfavorited) them and cannot view your private notes.

    Your favorite sitters will now appear under ' Your Favorites ' on the bottom of your home page and on the Your Sitters page! You can access 'Your Sitters' by clicking the drop-down menu at the upper right of the page from the web or mobile web, or by tapping the 'More' tab on the iOS and Android apps.

    To favorite asitter you've hiredrecently, navigate to their sitter profile from your Bookings page and click on your sitter's profile photo. On the bottom right side of theirprofile photo, click the heart symbol to add them to your list of 'Favorite' sitters.

    To favorite a sitter during your Sitter Search, click the heart symbol on the bottom right side of theirprofile photo to mark them as a 'Favorite'.

    Your favorite sitters also appear at the top of your search results when you sort by 'best match'!

    Practice what you are going to say and rehearse a few times beforehand - parents will be able to tell you're prepared and determined to get booked!

    If you're seeing an "User does not exist" error message, you may have registered for your UrbanSitter account with a different email address. Try a previous email address!

    If you're seeing an "An exception has occurred" error message, you may have previously deactivated your account. To reactivate, contact us !

    Did you originally register via Facebook or Google? If so, please log in through this social account.

    If you're successful, once you've logged in create a password on your Account Settings page so you can log in with an email/password combination.

    Videos can be uploaded on the UrbanSitter website or on the UrbanSitter iOS and Android app

    Standard video formats are supported, including .mov, .wav, .mp4, . avi, and .wmv

    Videos must adhere to the Profile Video Policies and should not include any contact information (do not mentionyour last name!)

    2. Navigate to your sitter Home Page and click 'Approval Checklist' to see what parts of your profile you have yet to complete. Then click 'Say "hello" in a 30 second video'.     3. Click 'Select and Upload Video' and select your video from your computer's files. Once your video is finished uploading, it will be submitted for review by our Support team. We will notify you as soon as your video has been approved and visible on your profile!

    4.Then click 'Upload Now' to submit your profile video. You can also click 'Change Video' to select a different video.Once your video is finished uploading, it will be submitted for review by our Support team. Most profile videos are reviewed and approved within 7 days (though most are approved much sooner!) We will notify you as soon as your video has been approved and visible on your profile.

    Once you've found a sitter on UrbanSitter you're planning on booking for a recurring job, you can easily send multiple booking requests at once! Simply select the days of the week and start/end times for each day, and send off your requests - the sitter will be able to accept or decline each individual booking, and you'll be notified along the way.

    Each booking can be paid via cash or credit card - your choice. If you pay via credit card, you'll love this tool! You can easily set up recurring bookings to pay your sitter per job, per week, every 2 weeks, or however you've worked out your payment schedule.

    Here's some helpful information to guide you through our new tool:

    To get started, access your sitter's profile and begin the booking flow - when prompted, select the option to indicate you'll need the sitter for multiple bookings. Then choose the date range of your bookings, as well as the days of the week you'll need care for and hours per day. Click Next, confirm dates to continue.

    In this parent's example, he's looking for childcare Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from noon - 4:00 pm starting June 3rd and ending August 2nd.Please note the date range of your multiple booking requests can span a maximum of 12 weeks.

    On the next screen, you'll see a list of proposed booking requests generated from your selections on the previous screen. In case your family doesn't need childcare for certain dates in this list, you can deselect individual jobs so your sitter won't be sent requests for those dates. Click Next to continue.

    Then you'll see an overview of your recurring booking request and be able to edit any of the job details before sending - such as the rate, payment method, and number of children, as well as add a job description, profile picture (if you don't already have one!) and special circumstances and perks of the job. Finally, click Book and your requests will be sent!

    Your sitter will be able to accept or decline each booking request and as they come in you'll be notified via email and/or app push notification. In regards to payment, each booking will be like a traditional one-time job booking - if you're paying via credit card, your sitter will be prompted to confirm their hours worked at the job's scheduled end time.   • If you need to update the payment method for your upcoming booking and the job has not yet started, you can easily update the payment method from the booking page next to the payment type section.

    Here's how to switch your booking'spayment method on the UrbanSitter website, mobile web browser, iPhone app, and the Android app:

    Goto your Bookings page and navigate tothe specific booking you'd like to update, then click 'View Details'.

    In this example, the parent is switching the payment method from cash to credit. Next, click 'Change to credit' next to the job's 'Payment type'.

    After you click, the system will prompt you to confirm the change, as below:

    Once you click 'Yes, Change To Credit' the booking will automatically update to the new payment type: credit card. This flow works the same when changing the payment type from credit to cash.

    iPhone App

    Click the Menu button in the top right corner of your screen and click 'Bookings'. Click on the booking you'd like to update, scroll down to 'Payment type', then click the 'Switch to ...' button.

    Android App

    Click the Menu button in the top leftcorner of your screen and click 'Bookings'. Click on the booking you'd like to update, scroll down to 'Pay Via', click the down arrow button, and then click the new payment method you'd like to switch to.

    There you go! Your booking's payment method has now been updated. Yoursitter will receive a notification about thischange in payment method.

    If the job has already completed, please reach out to to have the payment method changed. As a note, only parents can update the payment method for a booking they've added.

  • To edit an existing review of a sitter, simply navigate back to the sitters profile, click on the Reviews tab, and then click the Edit Review button which will be available to you there. This will take you back through the review process, allowing you to update all aspects of the review including the visibility setting, the star rating, and the written comment.

    If you have completed at least one booking with a sitter on UrbanSitter, you have the ability to post a review to their profile. Within the review, you can indicate the star count on a one through five rating, add a description for why youre leaving this review, and indicate whether youd like for the review to be public or private. A public review will be visible to all users on UrbanSitter, including other parents and the sitter themselves; a private review will only be visible to UrbanSitter Member Services.

    To post a review, simply navigate to the sitters profile and click on the Review button available there. This will take you to a form where you can fill our the star count, description and indicate the visibility setting.

  • If youre planning a party or a big event, you may wish to book more than one sitter for the same job. You can easily book multiple sitters byinitially sendinga booking request tothe first sitter via the normal flow, then sending booking requeststoadditional sittersfor the same date and time. You can book multiple sitters from an open Job Post or from the Sitter Search page.

    From an open Job Post, click 'View Interested Sitters' and send your first sitter a booking request by clicking the green 'Request a Booking' button.Once you request your first sitter, you will land onthe following page:

    To send a request to additional sitters,simply click the 'View All Interested Sitters' button or navigate back to the Job Post where you will again see your list of interested sitters. From the Interested Sitters list, click the 'Request a Booking' button nearthe next sitter youd like to request a booking with.

    You will be prompted to select whether you'd like to book the first sitter who accepts the job, or whether you'd like to book more than one sitter for the job. Be sure to click 'No, I need more than one sitter'to start the process of booking multiple sitters.

    From here, you will be prompted to indicate how many sitters youd like to book so that the system can properly accommodate this request. Currently the limit is10 sitters.

    Onceyou'verequested your 2nd sitter, you can continue to request additional sitters by following the prompts that appear after submitting those booking requests.

    Please keep in mind that you are welcome to send booking requests to more sitters than you need for the job. This will allow you to ensure that you will have all the sitters you need in case one or more decline your request.

    Whenyou'vefinished requesting all the sitters that you need, the final page will confirm that you are looking for multiple sitters for the requested date. In this example, the parent needsto book for 3 sitters for the job.

    Once the number of sitters you need for the job have accepted your booking requests, your job request will be confirmed. Any other sitters you sent a booking request to who haven't accepted or declined yet will be notified that the job is no longer available.

    There you go - you're all set for your booking with multiple sitters! Please note that this flow of booking multiple sitters is also possiblefrom the Sitter Search page. Simply send a booking request tothe first sitter via the normal flow, then sending booking requeststoadditional sittersfor the same date and time.

    If you accidentallyselected that you needmore sitters for a job than your actual need - and a sitter(s) has already fulfilled your need, pleaseclose the extra booking requests listed in your Active Bookings.

    Arrive 10 minutes early

    Wash hands upon arrival, especially when caring for an infant, and offer to take off your shoes

    Ask for emergency numbers and where the first aid kit is kept. Ask under what situation (if any) they would like to be contacted

    Ask about allergies/medications and if there is anything or any room that is off-limits

    Ask if the child has a favorite toy or activity (or, bring your own age-appropriate activities/crafts)

    Ask if theres anything you can do to help around the house while the kids are asleep. Most of the time, parents will say no but theyll be impressed!

    Assure the parent that their children are going to have a wonderful time

    During the job.

    Get down to the childs level to play with them

    Keep your phone nearby in case the parents are trying to get in touch

    Put toys away. Even if youdon'tknow exactly where they belong, tidy up and say I -hope I put things back in the right place

    Wash any dishes that you or the children use. Bonus: Wash anything else in the sink.

    Text the parents to let them know that their child is sleeping peacefully and say enjoy your evening out (or something.)

    When the job ends Give a report at the end of the night and emphasize the positives! Its clich, but parents always like to hear nice things about their kids.
