Allan Johnson Ph.D. — Senior Vice President of VHA Upper Midwest at Vizient, Inc

Dr. Allan N. Johnson, Ph.D serves as Senior Vice President of Upper Midwest of Vha Inc. Dr. Johnson leads Vha's effort to develop programs and services that are closely aligned with the goals and objectives of the more than 200 Vha health care organizations in northern Illinois, Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wisconsin. Dr. Johnson is responsible for strategic planning, resource competency development, information exchange and the delivery of services offered by Vha offices in Minneapolis and Chicago. He was Senior Manager and Leader of its Health Care Business And Consulting Practice at Arthur Andersen LLP. From 1993 to 1995, he served as the President of the Metropolitan Healthcare Council, a trade association of hospitals in Minneapolis/St. Paul. Johnson also served as president of the Council of Hospital Corporations, the forerunner to the Metropolitan Healthcare Council from 1984 to 1993, and he was vice president of research and information systems from 1981 to 1984. Concurrent to his position at the Council of Hospital Corporations, he served as president of the Healthcare Education and Research Foundation in Minneapolis from 1984 to 1989. Dr. Johnson also has held several posts at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis, and was with the Office of Policy Analysis for the Health Care Financing Administration in Washington. Dr. Johnson served as an elected representative of the American Hospital Association's Committee on Allied Hospital Associations in 1992. He also served as chairman of the Conference of Metropolitan Hospital Associations in 1992, and as board member of the Healthcare Education and Research Foundation from 1984 to 1995. Dr. Johnson holds a bachelor's degree from Hamline University in St. Paul, Minn., and earned a master's degree and doctorate of philosophy from the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis.
