Diversity and Inclusion at Vonage

At Vonage, we’re committed to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DE&I) and creating an environment where team members can thrive in and out of the workplace. Our team member population has dramatically changed since our business transformation began six years ago, growing from a team based in three countries to one with team members in 30 countries.

Our hybrid workplace model allows us to reach talent all across the planet. Once a US-centric company, more than half of Vonage’s team members are based outside the US. We’re proud that our products and services enable our team members to work from anywhere so we can hire talent across the globe. This allows us to bring more diversity to our company, which in turn helps us to better serve our customers.

We know our differences make us stronger. That’s why Vonage’s commitment to DE&I is woven throughout our entire people strategy - from recruitment, to onboarding, to development and promotions - it's a part of everything that we do.

DE&I is a part of our Culture

We believe DE&I needs to be a living and breathing part of our culture. It can’t just be words we say, it has to be demonstrated through our actions. At Vonage, it is not only important that our team members participate in our DE&I initiatives, but essential that they drive them. All of our DE&I initiatives are employee led, created and implemented.

Our Team Members Drive our DE&I Efforts

Vonage created a DE&I Advisory board made up of eight leaders identified during our July 2020 talent review process as having high potential to lead the company’s DE&I work. This global advisory board is tasked with creating awareness and support for diversity, equity and inclusion, while empowering positive action towards embracing Vonage’s mission, strategy, values and culture. The DE&I board was charged with framing Vonage’s DE&I ethos, “Our Differences make us Stronger,” and instituted the founding principles for our Employee Resource Groups (ERGs).

ERGs promote DE&I and support the professional and personal development of all team members. ERGs are created with the intent to amplify diversity, create a more inclusive environment, and encourage ongoing discussions about equity in the workplace and the world. Each ERG at Vonage has at least one executive sponsor and all are led by our team members. Vonage ERGs serve as forums for Vonage team members to convene with shared interests and common goals.

Together with the DE&I Advisory board, Vonage team members have created five ERGS. These ERGs are open to all and create a place for team members to share experiences and connect. Through these connections, Vonage ERGs are building a sense of community and belonging both within our organization and the communities in which we operate. Participation is voluntary. After just a few short months, already 25% of our employees are participating in an ERG and the number continues to grow. Current Vonage ERGs include:

The Black Experience: The Black Experience’s mission is to support the development and engagement of Black Vonage team members while promoting a corporate culture of diversity, equity and inclusion. The Black Experience ERG aims to make Vonage a destination place to work for Black talent and seeks opportunities to represent the Vonage brand throughout the tech community.

Vamos Vonage: Vamos Vonage is focused on building and empowering the Latino community by fostering and maintaining an inclusive, supportive and culturally competent environment.

V+ Pride: The purpose of the V+ Pride ERG is to increase visibility and reduce prejudice against the LGBTQIA+ community and its members here at Vonage. V+Pride seeks to provide a safe space for team members to network, find mentorship, and create long-lasting professional relationships without fear of being judged or targeted.

Wellness & Mental Health: The Wellness & Mental Health ERG believes that wellness is an active process of the development of our emotional, mental and physical health. The Wellness & Mental Health ERG supports Vonage in creating a culture of wellness where team members excel, and to support the company’s commitment to diversity and inclusion while empowering team members to bring their whole selves to work.

Women of Vonage: This Women of Vonage ERG works to facilitate leadership growth, opportunities for professional development, and exposure to multiple areas of the business. This ERG also focuses on expanding networking/influencing opportunities, efficiency gains, skills and knowledge progression, and augmenting talent development for women and their allies at Vonage.
