Frequently Asked Questions About Vyond

  • This article explains when to transfer the commercial rights to a video created with GoAnimate.

To determine if commercial rights must be transferred, use this litmus-test question:

"Will this video be used, either directly or indirectly, in someone else's business?"

If the answer is yes, then a rights transfer is required.

NOTE: "Business" is defined as any commercial venture, whether for profit or not.

    More information

Videos for commercial use can be created with any subscription, but a license to sell and/or transfer the commercial rights is only available with a GoPremium or GoTeam subscription. Transferring commercial rights requires a $99 per-video fee. Once the rights have been transferred, the original video creator may no longer use the video for any commercial purpose.

    When to transfer Commercial Rights

You must transfer the commercial rights to a video created with GoAnimate any time a video is produced and delivered to a customer who will use the video in a commercial venture. Examples include, but are not limited to:

    Marketing

    Training

    Product or service announcements

    Introductory or Explainer Videos

Just remember and use this litmus-test question:

"Will this video be used, either directly or indirectly, in someone else's business?"

If the answer is "yes," then the commercial rights to the video must be transferred. To do so, scroll down from the video preview page and click the image shown below.

    What about Joint Ventures?

The video is licensed to the entity that purchased the subscription, regardless of the financial or business relationships that entity has with others. So as long as the video is not being transferred to a separate entity, a commercial rights transfer purchase is not necessary.

  • Vyond Essential offers a limited commercial license. Distribution and monetization are limited to YouTube, similar ad-supported video hosting/viewing sites, and your own website.

Vyond Premium and Professional share the same commercial rights, which are more robust than those of Essential, and which can be transferred to others for a $99 per-video transfer fee. Distribution via traditional mass media (terrestrial or cable TV) is excluded from all subscription plans.

Your license does not automatically grant you the rights to produce videos for the business use of others. Learn more.

  • Yes, and there are two options depending on which subscription plan you purchase. You can post videos on sites that allow you to earn ad revenue, such as YouTube, and you can sell videos directly.

    GoPublish Plan (Ad revenue only)

With a GoPublish subscription, you can postvideos on ad-supported sites.

A GoPublish license does not include:

    - The right to remove or replace the GoAnimate logo

    - The right to sell videos to others

GoPremium and GoTeam Plans (Ad revenue + video sales revenue)

A GoPremium or GoTeam license adds the following additional rights:

    - The right to replace or remove the GoAnimate logo

    - The right to sell videos to others. Each video that is transferred to a customer requires a $99 rights transfer fee (see image below).

You may not distribute GoAnimate videos over traditional mass media, such as terrestrial or cable TV, regardless of which subscription plan you have with a separate Broadcast Rider.

GoAnimate retains all rights to the GoAnimate platform and individual component parts. Your rights only apply to finished videos.

  • When I import an audio file, I get an invalid file type error.

    here

    Things to check:

    1. Is this a supported file type ?

2.Does the audio file have 1 channel or 2 channels?

Not sure? There's a few different ways to check this. Here is one:

Download MediaInfo, which is a free software for analyzing audio and video files. You can find the file .

Drag your file into MediaInfo and it will analyze the file. Under the 'Audio' section, you will see either 1 channelor 2 channels.

If the file is 1 channel, you can convert it to a stereo track and then try to import into the platform again.

How do I make my mono audio file a stereo audio file?

There are a ton of different methods for accomplishing this, but I will show you a quick and easy way to do so in Audacity which is free.

    Select All & Copy

    Insert new stereo track

Paste the copied audio into the stereo track. You'll see on the left side that it says stereo. You will also now see the audio waveform twice instead of once.

At this point, you can delete the mono track since you'll no longer need it. To do this, click the x in the top left corner of the mono track.

Now you can export your file to any format that you need it in. You may need plugins to export to M4A or Mp3. More info can be found in the Audacity forums.

  • We set the scene; you customize the rest.

    Setting the scene

A GoAnimate template is a scene with a backdrop, characters, props, and text pre-populated for you. With templates you can build dynamic scenes quickly and easily; just use an existing template and build on top of it. We have hundreds of great-looking templates to choose from.

Templates also help spark ideas for your videos, giving you a sense of what’s thematically and visually possible in the platform.

Inside the GoAnimate video maker exist a wide range of template types -- including text, locations, logos and many more!

For an extra layer of customization add your company logo, font, and hex color code to match company branding standards.

Just a few of our templates

    Using templates

Start making a new video using the Business Friendly theme

Drag and drop templates onto your timeline to create new scenes

Customize each scene with your desired text, colors, etc.

  • Make your video unique

Customize your video to match your style preferences and/or company branding guidelines.

Every part of your GoAnimate video is fully customizable -- including the colors, fonts, images, and sound clips. You can even create custom characters. Our massive library of digital assets contains everything you need in order to make professional business videos -- but you can also take it one step further and import your own assets.

This article will give you a quick overview of the customization options available.

    Colors

Perhaps the easiest and most impactful way to customize your video is to work from your own color palette. GoAnimate lets you use any color you want; pick a color, use the eyedropper, or, if you know the color code, you can enter HEX, RGB, or HSB.

    Fonts

We set fonts that work well with our templates but if you want something different -- we have a wide variety of fonts to choose from. These fonts are available to all users.

If you can't find what you like then you can also import your own.*

There are also various styling/ formatting options -- including bolding, automatic font sizing, text alignment and others.

*Font import is only available to GoTeam subscribers. See this blog article.

    Sound

Choose from our extensive library of background music, loops, and sound effects. Of course, you can also upload your own sound as an MP3 or WAV file.

For voiceover, you could use GoAnimate’s text-to-speech (TTS) option but we highly recommend that you record an actual human voice using our mic recording option, or hire a professional voiceover talent.

See this one-minute video tutorial on how to add narration and dialogue to your video.

    Customize in 4 easy steps:

    Select a template

Add text and try different colors

    Import your own images

  • In GoAnimate, a character is much more than an image. It is a collection of attributes, such as poses, actions, facial expressions, and mouth movements. All of these, and more, are what define a character, and they are programmed into each character set.

As such, new characters can not be uploaded. Instead, use the Custom Character Creator built into GoAnimate to create your very own characters right from within the platform.

  • So, maybe you have attached some dialog to your character but you have several short scenes where the dialog needs to stretch thru. Or perhaps you have a popping noise at the beginning of your recorded/imported sound and wish to get rid of it. Whatever the case may be, this is the article that will show you how to split your audio clip into separate pieces. Brace yourself...here we go!

1.) First click on the sound that you wish to split. The sidebar will pop up. Move your cursor to "Detach from scene"

    Here

2.) Notice, the background color of the clip changes from white to teal? This audio clip is now detached and ready to be split. Click on the clip again. Do you see the thin vertical red line? This shows the point where the audio clip will be split.

3.) After you choose the "split" option from the sidebar, your 2 pieces can move freely side to side.

4.) So now you know how to split audio. This can be done with sound effects, music, etc...From here you can either move the clips between other scenes or completely delete the extra section. In the picture below, I am displaying how to "remove" an extra piece. This is good to know, just in case you might have a weird clicking/popping sound at the very beginning (or end) of your audio clip. You can simply remove it by splitting the sound.

5.) Here you can choose to re-attach your sound clip to your scene. This will disable the ability to move the sound clip around and designate it to that particular scene.

6.) Lastly, here is the difference between an attached scene and a detached scene.

Perfect! If you are interested in in learning about lip syncing, click.

  • While clear backgrounds in GoAnimate are not possible, there is a work-around.

  • As part of the ongoing shift to a native HTML5 platform, GoAnimate retired the clickable link feature in the Spring of 2016. If you have used this feature in the past, please note that the text of your link has not been altered in any way. The only change is that your viewers will not be redirected to another web site if they try to click a link that was previously live.

If clickable links are important to your business, please use a third-party hosting platform that supports adding clickable links. GoAnimate partners with several such providers, including Wistia, Vimeo, and Vidyard, but any hosting platform that allows the addition of clickable links to MP4 files will work.

  • We often receive questions about writing text in languages other than English. Good news - it's possible in our Legacy Video Player.

In order to get characters other than the English alphabet to appear as text in GoAnimate you need to select theNoto Sans font. This is the only font type that supports characters outside of the English alphabet.

In order to get the textyou want, simply copy the text you would like to use from an outside source (i.e. website, word document, etc), then paste it into the text box with the Noto Sans font pre-selected in GoAnimate.

  • Yes. When a GoAnimate subscription lapses, the videos and assets (characters, backgrounds, props, and effects) are still saved on our servers. All features associated with paid subscriptions will stop working until the subscription is activated again, but your videos will be preserved.

For example, if you are a GoPremium subscriber and have replaced the GoAnimate watermark with your own, the GoAnimate watermark will reappear on your videos when the subscription ends. Once you re-activate your subscription, all features of the plan purchased will again be available.

Hi everyone, today I will show you how to use Whiteboard Animation in GoAnimate. Whiteboard Animation is a great way to engage your audience by explaining abstract concepts visually, making them easy for viewers to understand. In GoAnimate, you can finish an animation in just a few minutes, without any hand drawing.

There are hundreds of ready-to-use Whiteboard Animation templates to choose from, organized by categories. Everything in our templates is customizable. Whiteboard characters feature hundreds of actions, and custom assets can be imported as well. Let me show you how. Drag and drop your desired template onto the stage area. All templates come with pre-installed props and characters that create a hand drawn animation effect and can be edited based on your needs. Recording your voice and lip sync with the characters can be done in a few clicks! “It is easy”

Let’s preview what we have now. Ok, now let’s play with some animation. Animations are easily adjustable: You can extend the animation by selecting the Library tab, and even change the animation target - in this example, you can change the hand that you want to do the drawing. To do this, simply select the hand you want to change and choose from our diverse range of styles. Let’s pick this one and see the difference. Want to create a very specific character? Simply go to our Character Creator and choose from hundreds of different features and styles to build your own custom character! Or, choose from our library of different characters, located in the tray.

GoAnimate has hundreds of stock characters, covering a wide range of activities, occupations and industries. Chances are, you’ll be able to find one that fits your needs! And that’s how you add whiteboard animation effects to your videos! Go ahead and give them a try to add a whole new dimension to your videos. Thanks so much for watching - until next time!
