Stephen Theobald — CFO, Executive VP & Treasurer at Walker & Dunlop

Mr. Stephen P. Theobald, also known as Steve, has been the Chief Financial Officer, Executive Vice President and Treasurer of Walker & Dunlop, Inc. since April 1, 2013. Mr. Theobald served as Chief Financial Officer and Executive Vice President for Hampton Roads Bankshares Inc. from December 01, 2010 to March 31, 2013. Mr. Theobald served as Chief Financial Officer and Executive Vice President of Bank of Hampton Roads. Mr. Theobald has over two decades of broad experience in the financial services industry, served as the Chief Financial Officer of one of the country's top ten banks, served as an Audit Partner in the Financial Services Group at KPMG Peat Marwick LLP, (now KPMG LLP (KPMG)), and worked at the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency. Over the past 8 months, he served as a Financial Consultant to the Hampton Roads. Mr. Theobald served a number of senior positions at Capital One Financial Corporation (Capital One) from 1999 to 2010 and served as the Chief Financial Officer of Local Banking from 2005 to 2010. He served at Capital One include: Chief Financial Officer of Global Financial Services from 2002 to 2005, Executive Lead of Regulatory Relations, Executive Lead of Peoplesoft Program and Controller. From 1984 to 1999, he served at KPMG, progressing to Audit Partner in the Financial Services Group. From 1990 to 1992, he served as a Professional Accounting Fellow at the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency. Mr. Theobald holds a BSBA in Accountancy in 1984 from the University of Notre Dame and is a Certified Public Accountant.
