Mr. John M. Reiss serves as Global Head of Global Mergers & Acquisitions Practice and Partner at White & Case LLP. Mr. Reiss serves as the Global Co-head of White & Case's Mergers and Acquisitions Group. He represents parties in mergers and acquisitions, private equity transactions, securities transactions, and financings of all types. His clients include numerous corporations and private equity groups. He was a Partner at White & Case. Mr. Reiss' recent representations include WellPoint, Inc. in its $6.5 billion acquisition of WellChoice, Inc.; the management team of Warner Chilcott PLC in its $2.9 billion acquisition by Waren Acquisition, Ltd; Dr. Dennis B. Gillings, Ph.D, and his company, Pharma Services Holding, Inc. in the US$1.8 billion acquisition of Quintiles Transnational Corp.; NUI Corporation in its acquisition by AGL Resources for $827 million; and the sale by Royal Ahold of its BI-LO and Bruno's supermarket chains for $660 million. Additional significant transactions include the representation of First Atlantic Capital, Ltd. in connection with its acquisition of all of the outstanding stock of Prestolite Electric Holding, Inc.; Harvest Partners in its acquisition of New Flyer Holdings Corp. from KPS Special Situations Funds; the management team in a US$376 million public to private management buy-out by Alchemy Partners and MSD Capital of education and consumer software concern Riverdeep Group plc; Getronics NV in its $1.9 billion acquisition of Wang Global; the representation of Royal Ahold N.V. in its $3.6 billion acquisition of US Foodservice and US Foodservice's subsequent acquisitions of PYA/Monarch and Alliant Foodservice Inc.; the representation of Quad-C in connection with its acquisition of Pulaski Furniture Corporation; the representation of Avis Group Holdings in connection with its sale for approximately $1.5 billion to Cendant Corporation; the representation of DB Capital Partners in connection with its acquisition of Kinetics Group from Vivendi; the representation of Grupo Bimbo in its $610 million acquisition of Oroweat from George Weston Limited; and the representation of Harvest Partners in connection with its acquisitions of Global Energy Equipment Group and Associated Materials Inc. Mr. Reiss also regularly represents Boards of Directors in connection with corporate governance and fiduciary duty issues. In June 1996, Mr. Reiss was named Dealmaker of the Month by the American Lawyer as a result of his representation of Royal Ahold in its $2.9 billion acquisition of Stop & Shop, and in May of 1999 was profiled in a Corporate Finance article entitled Legal Flair Can Make a Deal of a Difference. Mr. Reiss is ranked as a Leading Individual for both Corporate/M&A and Private Equity by Chambers USA in its 2005 Client's Guide. He completed his B.S. from University of Pennsylvania (Wharton School), summa cum laude in 1981; J.D. from University of Pennsylvania Law School in 1984; and M.B.A. from University of Pennsylvania (Wharton School) in 1984.
