How difficult is it to maintain a social life while in your job at Sysco?
Antwort der Top-Mitarbeiter
No social life, they make it a 12-14 day every day. When you are done your so tired you can't do anything
Non existent
Overtime is optional (at least where I work). The regular shift is 10hrs, 4 days a week. It's not bad, you just have to say no once in a while when they ask for overtime. You don't have to work 12-14 hours every day.
What's the vibe like in the Operations dept at Sysco? How many hours are you working?
Antwort der Top-Mitarbeiter
This place doesn't care how many hours a driver is out, worst place to work.
70 hours a week. The department has no team work. It’s all for one. Management doesn’t solve any issues or concerns when they are brought up. Sysco used to be a great place to work. If I knew then what I know now about the company, I wouldn’t have applied.
poor vibe ,over 65 hours a week
What benefits does Sysco provide?
Good except for the health benefits stink, the drivers have a far better plan.
401 k, stock, health and life insurance
Insurance, retirement
What's the company culture like at Sysco?
Antwort der Top-Mitarbeiter
Very busy. Production numbers, whether order selecting, forking, loading, or delivering. windows for deliveries are tight, warehouse is always making life harder for drivers. The equipment given makes the job assignments very easy, top notch stuff. However not all Sysco operating companies are Unionized. With a Union contract, you lock in your seniority, wages and retirement and working conditions. It's grueling work. But it is leading industry and an abundance of work, all you need is good work ethic and a GED and you can once full rate easily make 80k/yr (I say easily, AGAIN it's hard work).
Work hard for less money or you'll be replaced
It’s all about the numbers not the employees.
How secure do you feel at your job at Sysco?
Not at all after seeing ppl terminated for silly stuff
Very secure
I’ve never felt secure working at Sysco
How much and how often do raises happen at Sysco?
More cuts than raises in the past 5 years
Once a year
Sales people don’t get raises all you can do is open workouts and sell more groceries
What does the leadership team at Sysco need to get better at?
Antwort der Top-Mitarbeiter
Respecting their employees. Actually listening to employees. Sharing reasons for decisions and setting realistic goals.
Be more professional in the warehouse as far as management personnel
People skills how to treat them
What's going wrong and how can it be improved at Sysco?
Antwort der Top-Mitarbeiter
3 different warehouses from 3 different cities delivering on the same street!!!!
Better working environment, atmosphere, management treating employees better, and stop discrimination
Taking more recommendations from the actual order selectors
How's the leadership on the Operations team at Sysco?
Very one sided. It’s all about numbers out of the warehouse. That’s all that matters. There is no consideration of delivery or loading a truck legally. Once a trailer is loaded and the product is out of the warehouse, management doesn’t care what happens.
Not very concerned about transportation ideas
I believe the leadership is not in touch with what's happening
What's one thing you wish you'd known before joining Sysco?
Antwort der Top-Mitarbeiter
How many hours and how poor the communication and leadership is
How greedy they would become
How much they only care about changing the stock price not our customer base
How do you feel about going to work at Sysco everyday?
Bad, unappreciated
I dread it
Don’t look forward to it it’s so much more stressful than it needs to be
How's the work life balance at Sysco?
Most families work an 8am to 5pm type of job. I work 2 am to about 4 pm. When I’m done with work, there is no family time until the weekends. Even if I am able to be off work a little early, I still need to go to bed early to make sure I’m am alert at work. My wife works til 5 pm and my bed time is 6 pm. So to answer the question about work/life balance....... non existent.
Flexiable scheduel, but a ton of work.
It is different depending on the management in each OpCo, but from my experience it was very poor. You give a lot to an organization that doesn’t give much to you in return.
