I got my job from a referral, but I suppose you can just apply and see what happens.
What kind of people does Sysco like to hire?
People who can handle physically demanding work. You have to be self motivated and able to work independantly in a fast paced, time sensitive environment.

At Sysco Detroit they're awful. Senior management could care less about the sales force and unless your and old white male you have little or no chance at senior management.
How do you feel about Sysco's future?
I think we are quickly becoming non sustainable. Our culture between company and employees is so toxic I can't see next generation employees putting up with such intolerable conditions
How does Sysco measure success and growth in the Operations department?
None, as a driver Operations dept is completely useless. Not one suggestion is taken into consideration to make anything more useful for front line employees.
How are layoffs handled in the Operations department at Sysco?
They fire drivers based on personal issues and performance, and seniority. A senior driver who is a bit slow but experienced is fired to make way for a completely inexperienced driver willing to run
What skills do you need to be successful in the Operations department at Sysco?
None, the entire operations dept is useless. Managers are more police and disciplined tools of the company. They don't do anything useful other than neglect responsibility and punish drivers.
