One thing that stood out to me was when they had to pause raises because of the uncertainty of COVID, but then once reinstated, paid me for the time I didn't have a raise but would have without COVID. I didn't feel it was necessary as I was sympathetic to the struggles, but it was appreciated.

I can't believe how much of a company culture and closeness exists with a remote company. There seems to be an extra level of comfort that comes from people working from home and sharing that with the person they are on a video call with. You meet the kids or pets of a coworker and instantly bond.
