VIPKID is a great opportunity for those who find a fit. The new payment structure has made part-time teaching with VIPKID less attractive. The work is fun and the organization is fine, until something that is not considered tragic prevents you from working on short notice.

One word: greedy. They lie about the possibility of pay raises and have "restructured" pay scale so much that I'm now making nearly half what I did last year. Many classes are poorly written and the "incentives" can only be described as insulting.

I used to love working at VIPKid when they were a new and relatively small company, but as they've grown and gained stature in the corporate world they've become increasingly greedy and this has manifest by the way they've come to treat their employees as completely expendable commodities.

The more the company grows and the more it becomes worth, the more they treat their employees as if they are expendable. I've worked for the company for four years and rather than receive raises as the company has grown, employees as a whole have seen a steady stream of pay and benefit cuts.

I think engaging new teachers and being more easily accessible would be really helpful starting out, especially with so many established teachers and it often feels we compete with one another for bookings.

I'm a contractor, so my compensation isn't really a "package". That being said, I appreciate that if you work, you get paid, and that you get paid for showing up even if your student doesn't that day.

The classes are one-on-one with a student, so you don't necessarily have "co-workers" in the traditional sense.

The interviewers are often people who haven't taught classes in a very long time. Sometimes they aren't even familiar with basic company policies. Despite a lengthy interview process it really doesn't prepare you very well to teach -- a common complaint among many of my co-workers.
