Q&A With Nexient Employees

Alla domanda a all employees a Nexient

  • They do not provide training no matter what they say about "bootcamps". There are no code reviews. Many of the projects are pretty crappy. Do not expect to learn how to code better at Nexient.

  • The company does not provide training. They will accept jobs even if they have no one who knows how to work with the language or technology. They make money by paying their employees below market rate and being the lowest bidder. They will tell you what they think you want to hear to get you to accept employment. The broculture is strong. They gaslight and undermine your confidence. They will happily set you up to fail. Be careful taking a job with Nexient.

  • Ugh. A huge "agile" open office layout. It is very loud. There are cheap adjustable standing desks and florescent lights.

  • The initial screening, telephone interview was less than 15 minutes-- and the salary was divulged in those 15 minutes. I was also asked if I had a "problem" with the exceptionally low salary because the interviewer wanted to know before scheduling me for a second interview. The second interview had three parts and took about an hour and a half.

  • I interviewed with a woman from human resources. Then I was given a paper coding test. Then I did a whiteboard interview with a mid-level programmer. I heard before the end of the day. The interview was not challenging.

  • Nexient is not professional in how they approach interviewing or frankly how they treat employees. Don't be surprised at the really unprofessional behavior you may see during your interview with Nexient

  • There were no difficult questions. I thought they were remarkably unprofessional and just looking for warm bodies who they can pay a sub-standard rate

  • Depends on the project and who your supervisor is. Be aware that they no longer give holidays off, you have very limited vacation time, and you have to have vacation time approved.

Alla domanda alla Engineering Department a Nexient

  • Very male. And mostly very young-- 23-35. There are Magic the Gathering games in the lounge at the noon hour and Smash Bros. is always being played. Nexient is a great place if you have just graduated from college with your BS in comp sci. The company gives you the chance to learn GIT, how to use the current framework for whatever language you are hired to program in, and a chance to learn how to be on a team interacting with a client. For women, the picture is less positive. There are very few women developers. Most women hired by the company are QAs or HR. I hear women complaining if they are developers that they end up being assigned very low level work and doing the leftover QA work. In engineering, there are only one or two women with the title of manager. Most delivery directors and project leads are male and typically they seem over worked. Nobody really mentors you. Nobody is going to hold your hand. Most people work at Nexient for a couple years and then go somewhere else.
