TS ranks highly in these reviews because too few people fill them out. All managers are working managers and don't have enough time for their teams. The turnover is awful. Attitudes towards remote work are disappointing. Training is poor. Benefits are decent but comp isn't merit based.
People who care and work hard get overwhelmed and burn out. High performers rarely stay because of this. Training is extremely poor, causing significant problems with backfills. More senior analysts have less responsibility than new hires. Everyone is understaffed.
We need remote work option and to retain employees. We need to pay people. Leadership needs to care about employee's health and happiness at work. We need better benefits, IT infrastructure, to have trained back ups, and ergonomic desks.
We have a casual and relaxed workplace environment. You can build good relationships and have fun during work. The ERGs are trying to make employee lives better, but need more funding/support. While executive leadership states we are in office, most people are somewhat flexible about WFH.
Something has to be done about the lack of experience, burnout, and turnover. Do better succession planning, even at lower levels. The best people leave. Too many people are getting exemptions from vaccination. Our cubes aren't ergonomic. The domain based approach is creating even worse silos.
My team cares about each other's health and well-being, despite company policies that encourage reckless behavior. My team steps up despite poor planning at a higher level to get the job done, even when it requires extra hours. People have left my team because of this.
Leadership needs to care about employee health. Every decision they have made, or not made, about COVID 19 is disturbing. Also, they accept overwork, burnout, and high turnover as natural consequences of being employed at Textron. There is no real diversity. Flexible remote work must be offered.
Compensation is not truly based on merit. You are always kept within a couple thousand dollars of people with the same years of experience, which means more senior staff will make more despite being bad at their job. Merit bonuses are rare & small. Additional responsibilities without additional comp
Executive leadership is extremely resistant to remote or hybrid work. We are severely suffering with retention and are rarely able to hire anyone experienced, and leadership action has taken too long to change this. You are expected to get the job done at any cost to your personal life.
Merit adjustments are pathetic, and need to be larger. Five year vesting is absurd, including for TSP plus bonuses, and employees don't even view their 401k or TSP as a benefit. The extra effort policy forcing you to work for 5 free hours is insulting. Lack of formal or monetary recognition.
We get the job done. I would say about half the people I work with are willing to stay late. The fact we need to stay late is due to low employee retention, overwork and poor planning. My manager tries to fight for me in order to mitigate problems or policies that would've caused me to leave my job.
