Look elsewhere outside of Apple if you want any sort of career pathing. There is zero career development at Apple unless you move to Cupertino, and even if you are okay with that, they won't pay you enough salary to justify living expenses out there.
Be amongst the Best in your field. Sometimes recommendations from within the team will be considered but you have to pass various interviews so if you are not up to date on your skills there is no way for you to get in.
Be knowledgeable about something. Anything. Not an expert necessarily, but have some depth. Know a few things about some Apple products. If you don't know, don't fake it. We know. Don't lie. Don't exaggerate. Breathe.
Know your stuff. Learn Objective-C. Learn iOS.
Be approachable. Be humble. Tell a good story.
Charisma and customer service comes first for Apple.
Be a human, not an MBA robot.
