How's the work life balance at Apple?
Top Employee Response
Horrible
Poor.
It's been wonderful so far. Each of my managers has consistently encouraged me to take time off. The rate at which we earn sick and vacation days is really reasonable, making time off easy to take. For lots of roles (non specialized) there are processes in place to allow people to take off while getting support while they're gone.
Why do you feel undervalued and what would make you feel better about your compensation at Apple?
Top Employee Response
Not paid for job performed, highly underpaid for skill set, knowledge, past industry experienced not recognize if not With Apple
At Apple you have 2-3 other responsibilities (often considered a full time job) on top of the one you were hired for with same pay
Apple rewards ruthless bottom-line oriented behaviors. Culture would need to change.
What do people at Apple think about the CEO? What do they do well and what can they improve?
Top Employee Response
Our CEO needs to provide fair wages. I work with people who have been at Apple less time make 1/3 more than what i make. And i would like to have a mental health day each year.
"Meh" is the opinion of most. But Apple is cult like and no one would ever say anything to anyone except a trusted confidant. His public persona is nothing like reality. He is a PR product and rarely interacts with employees within Apple except for a PR opportunity. He is quite vindictive and punitive if you disagree with him or if he feels you are not aligned with his opinion(s). I was totally wrong about him and my opinions changed over time.
Love him. Sometimes political
How's the vacation policy at Apple?
Top Employee Response
It's graduated. The longer you stay, the more PTO you get. The amount depends on whether you're corporate or retail.
Not amazing - default is 2 weeks when you get hired and then increasing with years of service, although you can probably negotiate your offer.
Earn as you go

The incredible growth in recent years has meant a dilution of core values. Entitlement and hubris have crept into the company but Apple continues to work against this.
More sales focused
Less secretive, more open.

More money mgmt support toward upward mobility raise for job performed
How can I improve my chances of being hired at Apple?
Top Employee Response
Look elsewhere outside of Apple if you want any sort of career pathing. There is zero career development at Apple unless you move to Cupertino, and even if you are okay with that, they won't pay you enough salary to justify living expenses out there.
Be amongst the Best in your field. Sometimes recommendations from within the team will be considered but you have to pass various interviews so if you are not up to date on your skills there is no way for you to get in.
Know your stuff. Learn Objective-C. Learn iOS.

It’s busy and stressful now due to launch of iOS 12 and new iPhones. I work 40
Fast paced almost to a rushed mentality. Management more concerned about how many customers seen instead of quality of support offered.

Marketing is extremely flat and there is little or no opportunity for advancement.
Marketing department is very flat. There is little opportunity to advance. You will be helped to improve until you are great at your job, and you will stay there.
The quality of talent you compete with for advancement is tough !
How's the morale at Apple?
Top Employee Response
Eh! Over worked and underpaid, especially in the technical support side. And then on top of that no holiday gift this year, instead they are going to “throw” a holiday party in January. Well retail stores are all open 7 days a week so hows that gonna work out? Actually with as overworked as we are we should get both the party and the gift. WTF APPLE?
Horrible. You’re just a number. There’s no real way to report things to HR either.

What part of Apple's business is growing fastest? What part is having difficulties?
Top Employee Response
Internet Service is growing fastest. HR is struggling because executives do not value their work.
Ever changing
Services are growing fast. Apple Retail is having difficulties.
How difficult is it to get a promotion?
Top Employee Response
The promotion pathway from T1 to T2 can sometimes be quite rapid. However, promotions beyond the front-of-line technical support positions are few and far in between. My best advice: Be patient, always exceed expectations, have a great relationship with your manager, always network, do career experiences / rotations, and always keep an eye out for internal job postings.
Very difficult. Upper management are has promotions predetermined before interviews. It’s all just for show if you actually are allowed to apply for a promotion
Unless you are 9ne of the click you won’t get promoted. We had one person get a job as a genius because that person was involved with a good friend of the store leader and never worked in the technical side. Also people that aren’t strong in a position have gotten promoted because they are friends with the boss or in his/her click
