  • Formal

  • Formal, but it would be nice to informally know how things stand. Some of the managers got to their positions from being good engineers, but did not end up as good managers. In such cases, necessary communication was not conveyed until formal feedback, which by then was too late.

  • A manager. The next day

  • Mostly the members of the team that I would be working with. Apple turned around in a relatively short period of time, maybe a week or so.

  • Product marketing managers, engineering, design, Q/A. Process took five months. Seventeen interviews. Five weeks after last interview until offer.

  • 27 minutes. You will end up with a chance to ask maybe one question of the interviewer if you are lucky.

  • 30 minutes. As someone who has interviewed 100s of candidates, the short time slot is almost useless. I generally just want to know if the person is reasonably qualified, able to do the work, and most importantly, not a jerk. More worried about hiring self-centered glory hounds than someone who needs some help coming up to speed. The integrity of the team is more important than hiring a rockstar.

  • Tough, but fair. They are not looking for you to fail, and want you to one the best you can be. They are less interested in silly Microsoft/Google-type weird questions (like "Why are manhole covers round?"), but are interested in applicable knowledge.

  • Gotta be on top of your game.

  • Great

  • Much easier than Google, Adobe, Facebook or Amazon. Those companies have rigorous interview processes with an organized system that guarantees complete coverage. Apple Marketing does not.

  • Amazon and Google are far more rigorous and structured in their process. The Apple process is haphazard at best. People often arrive without having read your resume or knowing exactly why they are on the interview cycle. Interviews are usually 30 minutes. The interviewer will often talk for ten minutes, ask a few questions and rarely allow for time to ask your own questions.

  • Completely different.

  • Long. Ineffective.

  • The interview process is good.

  • The interview process is intense. It can be several people over several in-person conversations. Retail tends to take a few months to get into, because there are so many interview levels. Valuable feedback, if you don't get a job, is hard to come by. Very little information given.

  • Non-existent. You will receive a review once a year. 15-30 minutes of HR-guided box-ticking from your manager. Rated in three main areas. The raises and bonuses are a zero-sum process within each team. You win, someone on your team loses. The average for the team is mandated by HR. There are no teams of rockstars, as mandated by HR.

  • Great

  • Sparse. Once a year 30 minute review. Surprise!
