People who genuinely love the store and our work, but managers...well they hire people who will work you until a mental breakdown

as representation of apple - none. As themselves same like everybody else.
It can feel like being at a college here: lots of interest groups, gaming, anime, music, ethnic, religious groups, and so on. Company also hosts occasional beer bash, party after special events for those involved, and so on.

Highly skilled people from all countries and cultures. Usually lots of fun.
Highly depends on the team. Some are friendlier than others. Also, they are not big on diversity of opinion. If you don't drink the Kool-Aid, you will become ostracized.
How does Apple handle HR issues?
Very well!
Not as well as you'd might think. Their HR department is not an advocate for the employee, but rather an advocate for the company. If there is a problem, they have your back only insofar as they want to keep you from rocking the boat. They are not really HR, but more a group to help put fires out when things go wrong.

What's the pay like for HR roles at Apple?
For Recruiters, it's near the top of market, ie, same ranges for the others in FLAAG. It *was* better several years ago, but they altered the bonus structure. The work from home flexiblity seems to make up for it.

What's the vibe like in the HR dept at Apple? How many hours are you working?
Apple is an intense place. I could probably manage my time better, but I still work well over 40+ hrs a week. That said, better than start ups or other places where they require facetime.
Very tough, many many hours.Compenation is good.

World class
Cutthroat and not a team mentality anymore-everyone is out to save their own position.

Best on earth
Terrible-they are all micromanagers and don't value employees that have tenure on the team.
What's the office layout like at Apple?
Apple Park is mostly open office layout. No doors. Quiet. Pleasant. Lots of walking. Amazing building.
Greatly depends on what building you are in. IL offices are a lot of private offices (though very few single occupancy). Many other buildings are cubicles, some private offices, etc.
How easy (or hard) is it to sell the product? length of sales cycle?
Challenging
Depends on the product but fairly easy for anything new.
How do the current devs on the team act towards new developers that join?
As helpful mentors
immediate team members are helpful and provide hands on support.

Great if you know the right people, otherwise mediocre.

very click.... if they like you as one of the team then you can get promoted. otherwise good luck

For the most part, very good. Apple expects a lot from its employees (and I do mean, A LOT). However, they are not afraid to show their appreciation through compensation, including stock, comp time, and cash payments.
What's the internship program like at Apple?
Interns don't get to work on anything that requires disclosed information, but they do get to work on some pretty interesting items, and genuinely can affect the next product release.

Some are great, some not so much.

A tough function in Apple as the business does not value HR. That said still attracts the best in the world.

To be clear, mine was a retail-based position where I worked 40 hours weekly.
