What's one thing you wish you'd known before joining Apple?

I wish I'd known how difficult it would be to try to move from Retail to Corporate. If Corporate is your goal, don't join Retail thinking that being an internal hire will give you any sort of advantage. It won't.

How unrealistic they are with their approach to customer service. They seem to forget that they sell computers and cell phones but you would think they are selling puppies because of how they think their customer service is “repairing relationships”

Apple is a giant soulless machine. You will most likely be hired for a given role, expected to perform that function flawlessly and be given little or no opportunity for growth or advancement.

Marketing department is very flat. There is little opportunity to advance. You will be helped to improve until you are great at your job, and you will stay there.

You’ll be a cog in a giant machine with no interest in your opinion or creative thoughts.

Marketing is extremely flat and there is little or no opportunity for advancement.

The quality of talent you compete with for advancement is tough !
