I'm never far from my dogs! 100% remote has given me back so much flexibility and freedom with my day and how I structure my working hours.
The transparency and humility that are core parts of the GitLab values really are shown by leadership. Everyone is honest and approachable. Egos are left "at the door". It makes everyone seems like they have an equal voice, even in the presence of execs.
Everyone seems to genuinely embrace the idea that the best way to learn and grow is to try and fail. There is no judgement, no penalty for trying something new and not succeeding. Your colleagues are there to support you and help you learn from the experience.
The solid base pay and stock options is pretty much standard these days (although GitLab is generous with both). There are tons of other thoughtful perks but the one that surprised me most was a no-cost health care option for my ENTIRE family. Zero premiums for the HSA plan!
The process was slower than usual but it felt very purposeful. For experiencing such explosive growth, GitLab is taking care to hire for both skill and culture fit. It makes me confident they won't end up with a lot of wrong hires like so many companies do in high-growth mode.
