My team and my teammates
In engineering we have trust that everyone is doing the best they can. Failures are used as an opportunity to learn, not to blame.
Engineering leadership helps us have a culture of blamelessness. Failure is seen as an opportunity to learn and grow and not an opportunity to place blame.
During the pandemic we have stayed highly connected through discord. Our team has all bought into a shared vision. We also have a great assortment of personalities that mesh really well.
Candidates have two separate pairing sessions with engineers and work on problems similar to what we deal with at work. It is the closest interview I've seen to actually mimicking working conditions.
Engineers are granted equity options upon hiring, but it is rare to see additional grants. If leadership wants us to be business builders they shouldn't be shy in sharing the business that employees are building. Options should be re-upped annually.
