When considering long term goal planning consider the employees individual strengths and there own long term goals. Just because an employees goals doesn't line up with the company goals doesn't mean you stop believing that employee has value or potential. Just because an employee doesn't drink the kool-aide doesn't mean they don't have value to offer the company or have the potential for great things.
