Overall, it's been great! I'm surprised at how easy it was to onboard remotely, and everyone is very welcoming and kind. It's definitely fast-paced, and there are high expectations, but overall if you're looking to make an impact Nextdoor is absolutely the place to be.
What makes you most happy at work?
That every day is different. :) There are no boring days at Nextdoor.
What do you like best about the leadership team?
They're incredibly approachable, and open to feedback and learning. They lead with grace and empathy.
What are some of the best things about your team?
The ability to listen and learn! Everyone comes from a different vantage point, and truly takes inspiration from everywhere.
What's going wrong and how can it be improved?
The pace is more intense than it needs to be. Too many docs and meetings, no respect for work blocks. Too many employee surveys (3rd one in 6 weeks?!)
What is the best part about your compensation package?
I'm happy with my base salary. Nextdoor was able to beat my previous salary from a household-name company, which was a welcome surprise. I'm also happy to receive equity, as I am bullish on the company.
What is most positive about the culture and environment at your company?
Everyone is genuinely friendly, and showing up because they truly want to create a better world. Nobody is phoning it in, and though we might not always *be right,* everyone is always working towards *getting it right.*
