The Older You Are, the More Invisible You Probably Feel at Work

Giving recognition goes a long way. Whether it’s a simple thank you or a formal award, companies have many ways to highlight the good work of their employees. But recent data shows that employers may need to make sure they’re not forgetting workers at the older end of the age spectrum.

Indeed, 60% of people aged 46 to 55 say they are typically recognized for the contributions they make to their company compared with 70% of workers 18 to 30, according to the latest reading of an ongoing query by Comparably.

More than 1,000 people across the tech sector participated in the study.

A focus on the youngest workers

According to the data, the highest percentage of workers who say they are typically recognized for their workplace achievements are those in the 18 to 25 age bracket (72%). The rate declines from there, hitting a low of 59% among workers 51 to 55.

Men and women feel the same

On average, 65% of men and women said they feel their contributions are recognized at work, according to the study.
