Good benefits! Really like how BECU is giving back to the communities it serves.
BECU has some of the best leaders I've ever worked with. There are many changes happening within the organization, but I feel our leaders have done well at ensuring everyone knows what is happening and why. I have worked at many financial institutions. This is by far the best culture i have seen.
The company has ZERO direction, the only real thing that you can see from the top executives is the desire to take this Not For Proffit into Aquisition or go on a Merger and Aquisitions. There is NO desire to actually improve the company and the work environment has gone from pleasant to miserable.
I support credit unions and like banking there.

If you could make changes, how would you improve the culture at BECU?
Top Employee Response
Less bureaucracy. More decision making abilities at lower levels. Make changes to the reporting structures and what areas report to what division.
More IT and software developer resources - preferably several teams for each line of business/product. Projects are log-jammed beyond belief waiting for resources.
Fewer levels of management. Too bureaucratic.

What are your coworkers at BECU like?
Overall good. Some are difficult to work with or are barriers to change. See a lot of people keeping to themselves.
Some are great and I love working with them. Some are resistant to change and it is difficult moving things forward. Seems like too many decision makers.
What's the interview process like at BECU?
They use interview architect to gauge learning agility.

What do people at BECU think about the CEO? What do they do well and what can they improve?
He’s quiet and I don’t hear or see him a lot. Most communications are from his reports. I am not very aware of our long term corporate strategy. I feel like we just want to grow as quickly as we can. He has been good in trying to maintain the unique and friendly culture of the org.
I don't hear much from him. I never see him walking around or interacting with people. But I hear good things.
How's the morale at BECU?
Generally, it is lower than it could be. I think it is specific to our department as we often struggle with a lack of strong leadership support, organization, resources, and direction.
What's one thing you wish you'd known before joining BECU?
That digital innovation is not backed up by sufficient resources to keep up with evolving technology.
How's the work life balance at BECU?
It depends where you work. Our department works long hours. Others seem like they work part time. It’s hard to say.

It's overall quite good and employee focused. Depends on your manager however.

IT is growing the fastest, but there is tremendous tech debt so innovation and enhancements are slow to surface.
