Listening and learning from their employees. It's all fine and good to have your head in the clouds, but when it comes to the day-to-day, maybe listen to the people actually doing it.

What are you most excited about working at Rakuten Marketing?
The paycheck that gets me to Saturday and Sunday.
How do you feel about Rakuten Marketing's future?
Not very optimistic. Bringing on expensive new leadership, while picking off existing employees. New leadership taking the company in a new direction: one giant display company.
How flexible is your work schedule at Rakuten Marketing?
Fairly flexible.
How helpful was your Business Development team when you were first hired at Rakuten Marketing?
They are extremely busy. They help when they can. For the most part, on-boarding and training is poor.
What's the work from home policy like at Rakuten Marketing?
Fairly flexible, as long as you are getting your work done.
What's the internship program like at Rakuten Marketing?
Lots of parents secure positions for their kids. So for the kids, they do really well!
How does Rakuten Marketing handle HR issues?
HR department is fairly responsive overall. However, I have never experienced a problem at work that would require HR.
How innovative is Rakuten Marketing?
Not very. Trying to be. LOTS of legacy tech that needs support and maintenance and about a 3 year waiting list to get on the roadmap.
How does Rakuten Marketing measure success and growth in the Business Development department?
Contracts renewed. Hitting goals. Relationships maintained.
Why work for Rakuten Marketing?
I don't recommend working here if you are mid-level. For entry level, this is a good place to get some experience and then move on.
How do I do well in an interview at Rakuten Marketing?
For a fullstack job, you need to be able to demonstrate fullstack skills, all the way from the DB layer to the frontend. Being more skilled in one area than another is fine, but the ability to perform across the entire stack is required. REST conventions are emphasized for building out APIs in the interview. Other than that, the ability to communicate ideas effectively is the most important thing.
What makes you most happy at Rakuten Marketing?
Using modern software development languages and system. Almost 100% freedom with learning new tech and applying it.
What do you like best about the leadership team at Rakuten Marketing?
They are 99th percentile in experience and professionalism. The best I've seen. That goes for middle managers and business leadership.
What is the best part about your compensation package at Rakuten Marketing?
Base pay.
What do your coworkers need to improve and how could you work together better at Rakuten Marketing?
I literally can't think of a single thing. I really don't see any people issues here. Plenty of business problems to solve though.
What is most positive about the culture and environment at Rakuten Marketing?
Open communication and cutting edge technology.
