The technology, until I found out Acumera could not afford to by the tools needed to do the job.

At the whim of the CTO
They hire off the street. Upward mobility is viewed as a trained person leaving their productive job.
They hire someone new so those doing well stay in the same position.
How's the feedback process at Acumera?
Do what you are told and don't upset the management.
If you disagree with management, you are in an awkward position.

I interviewed with top management, answered every question well and then they tried to get me to accept much less than the market rate. When I held fast, they came through right away.

Be barely competent to get hired, be quiet and don't offer criticism.

I have seen no growth in the department.

No warning. Senior management conducts a perp walk to the stunned employees car.
