What does the leadership team need to get better at?

Leadership Reviews

Provide proper training... please update Akamai University content

There is very little leading from the leadership team. Corporate strategy and mission do not translate in a concrete way to work tasks. Honest appraisal is lacking, all communications from leadership are relentlessly optimistic. Nothing ever goes wrong per those at the top.

Review from Engineering Dept

Think something else but money

Review from Sales Dept

More agility. Listen to engineering ranks more.

Review from Engineering Dept

Why do you feel undervalued and what would make you feel better about your compensation?

Compensation Reviews

A more competitive base salary compared to other companies within the sector

Lack of growth opportunities and very slow to promote, very little to no RSUs, expected to know a lot / do a lot and the salary is lower than average (for comparable positions at comparable companies).

More growth opportunities and better pay scale

Pay for you contribution to the stakeholders

Review from Sales Dept

Generally I do feel valued and compensated appropriately, but I wish the equity for employees was a little higher.

What do your coworkers need to improve and how could you work together better?

Team Reviews

Due to the entire organizational structure and hierarchy changing quite literally 3 or more times a year as the numerous unannounced mini-layoffs create extreme vacancies, many of your associates look for ways to "make themselves look good" which translates to completely unproductive attention grabs

They don't share thier knowledge to new bee to grow and learn ..too much micro management by mentor and manager..They don't co- oprate at all. To much politics within team and biased behaviour.

Akamai is a very competitive environment. Most coworkers are insecure in their positions and relentless seek to undermine colleagues.

Review from Engineering Dept

Show some interest on what they are doing

Review from Sales Dept

company is very slow to make decisions and not many people take ownership of key decisions - simple processes are made extremely complicated -

What needs to change to make the company culture better?

Environment Reviews

There is no communication or leadership. Plans are not communicated. There is zero opportunity to work with colleagues on something that is not directly billable to a customer. No team collaboration or group learning.

Review from Engineering Dept

For remote workers, the draconian travel policy. The company is concentrated in Cambridge, MA, but if you are remote, you are never allowed to travel there, ever, per the travel policy.

Review from Sales Dept

More efficient, faster decisions, dont wait for the competition to come and eat your lunch

What would you improve about your company's interview process?

Interviews Reviews

It is up to the manager to decide the number of steps involved in the interview. HR should provide them more guidance

Should have made by professionals

Review from Sales Dept

What's going wrong and how can it be improved?

Outlook Reviews

Higher management please grow up and trust employee..not only manager comment.

Akamai is still leveraging its original idea from two decades ago. It is becoming commoditized and Akamai has no ability to innovate or create new products.

Review from Engineering Dept

Can't. The company should go a deep reorganisation process

Review from Sales Dept

There is no innovation, in general it is poorly managed, and there is no responsibility or accountability for overall strategy across verticals. Improvement would be greater investment in original development, more and more empowered managers, and an office focused on cross-company strategy.
