First the Account Mgr and SCS Mgr, then Branch Mgr and other employees.

Be on time. Be well spoken and know your table manners in case they take you to lunch. Have a good handshake. Be up on current events, the P&C industry (and local sports, that topic always seems to come up). Have a good sense of humor.

It’s not looking great given the historic employee turnover. Amica sells trust and relationships. Without enough employees to establish that trust and keep the relationships the boat will be running aground soon.

Look up the word “micromanage” in the dictionary and you’ll find Amica. Despite everyone successfully working from home during Covid, Amica is requiring most people return to the office 4 days per week. If working from home is important to you then Amica will be a poor fit.

Honesty, morale is so low right now there’s not much to be proud of. Feels like working in a coal mine some days.

Promotions at Amica depend quite a bit on who your supervisor is and how much they work with you on improving your skills. Promotions only happen when you take on additional responsibilities. Many customer service positions get ‘capped out’ with no chance of promotions unless you’re willing to move/relocate.

Conservative. You cannot wear jeans if you interact with customers. No tennis shoes are permitted.

Raises are given annually, and the raises are typically between 2-2.75%

Have good communication skills, problem solving skills and focused on doing whatever makes the customer happy. Customer service trumps everything else at Amica.

Company has an excellent reputation in the industry.

They really just wanted to get to know you, and to see how you handled yourself in a social setting.

All HR issues are handled by the corporate office (and they look out for Amica).

Yes, each employee is given the ability to volunteer one day per year.

An employee discount on Amica insurance policies. Ability to wear jeans every day. Flex time. Ability to buy time off.

At best, 18-24 months. Nobody gets promoted for just having been at the job for a certain amount of time. Promotions happen if a) your supervisor likes you b) all of your metrics are above average c) your work quality improves & you take on additional duties and d) the planets line up just right.

Working at Amica is all about delivering the best possible customer service. Easier said than done given every customer has just suffered a loss. You need to be patient, be a good listener, be an excellent problem solver and think on your feet. All while someone is screaming at you on the phone.
