Mr. Joseph R. Swedish, also known as Joe, serves as an Advisor of China Health Care Corporation. He is the Founder of Guidon Partners GP, LLC. Mr. Swedish served as the Chief Executive Officer of Anthem, Inc. since February 2013 until November 20, 2017 and served as its President since May 14, 2014 until November 20, 2017. He served as the President of Trinity Health Corporation since December 2004 and served as its Chief Executive Officer from 2005 to 2013. He served as the President and Chief Executive Officer of Centura Health Corporation (Centura Health Inc.) from January 1999 to January 2005. Since joining Centura Health in 1999, he focused his efforts on ensuring the financial stability and service excellence of its core operations. From March 1994 to January 1999, he served as the President and Chief Executive Officer of the East Florida Division of Columbia and Central Florida Division at HCA Healthcare Corporation. He has more than 40 years of diverse executive healthcare leadership experience to WellPoint, including 24 years serving as Chief Executive Officer for major health and hospital systems. He has been Executive Chairman of Anthem, Inc. since December 9, 2015. Mr. Swedish served as the Chairman of Anthem, Inc. since December 9, 2015 until November 20, 2017. He serves as a Member of Advisory Board at OTTO Health, LLC. Mr. Swedish has been an Independent Director of CDW Corporation since August 2015 and Anthem, Inc. since March 25, 2013, Trinity Health Corporation since January 2005 and Cross Country Inc. since October 2001. He has been a Director of CDW Government LLC since August 17, 2015. He has been a Director of International Business Machines Corporation since December 2017. He serves as a Director of CDW LLC. He served as a Director of Cross Country Healthcare, Inc. from October 2001 to May 10, 2006, Coventry Health Care Inc. from February 25, 2010 to February 12, 2013 and Rehabcare Group Inc., from June 2004 to February 18, 2005. He served as a Director at Centura Health since January 1999. He serves as the Chairman of the Public Education and Business Coalition and a Board Member of the Metro Denver Boy Scouts, the Colorado Forum and Colorado Concern. He serves as the Chairman of the Catholic Health Association. He serves as Vice Chairman of the Colorado Health and Hospital Association and Member of the American Hospital Association Regional Policy Board (Region 8). He serves on the Board of Directors for the Blue Cross Blue Shield Association. He served as a Director of Loyola University Chicago and Health Care Education Trust. He serves on numerous committees and boards, including the National Quality Forum (NQF) Quality Healthcare Advisory Committee, the National Center of Healthcare Leadership Board, the Health Leadership Council, the Health Sector Advisory Council, the Institute for Diversity in Healthcare Management Board and the Catholic Chief Executive Officer Healthcare Connection. In 2003, he was awarded the University Medal for service to the University of Colorado by its Board of Regents and received the 2003 Ernst and Young Rocky Mountain Region Entrepreneur of the Year Award and subsequently was named for the national award. He is a Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives. Mr. Swedish holds a Bachelor's of Science degree from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte in 1973 and a Master's Degree in Health Administration from Duke University in 1979.
