Executive Bio

Mr. David Clarke has been a Vice President at ArcelorMittal since 2007 and its Chief Technology Officer since January 12, 2016 and Head of Corporate Strategy since 2013. Mr. Clarke joined Mittal Steel Company NV in 2003. In 2006 he co-led the development of the Mittal Steel Value Plan, a key element of the successful bid to merge with Arcelor. In his previous role, he was responsible for the development of medium to long term industry outlook, coordinating the group's annual strategy process and leading/supporting projects of key strategic importance. Prior to joining Mittal Steel, he held positions at McKinsey & Company, Princeton, Cambridge and Oxford Universities and AT&T Bell Laboratories. He served as a Non-Executive Director at ArcelorMittal South Africa Limited since July 19, 2016 until November 16, 2017. He served as a Director at Hunan Valin Steel Co. Ltd., (formerly, Hunan Valin Steel Tube & Wire Co. Ltd.) since October 2005. He is a Member of the World Economic Forum's Global Agenda Council for Responsible Mineral Resources Management. Mr. Clarke holds a PhD and MA in Physics from Princeton University where he was a Fulbright Fellow and a Hackett Scholar and a B Sc (Hons) in Mathematics and Physics from the University of Western Australia.
