Geert van Poelvoorde — Executive Vice President at ArcelorMittal

Mr. Geert van Poelvoorde serves as an Executive Vice President of Arcelormittal and has been its Chief Executive Officer of Arcelormittal Europe Flat Products since January 2014. Mr. van Poelvoorde serves as the President of the European Steel Association (Eurofer). He served as Vice President of ArcelorMittal and also served as its Head of Flat Carbon Europe since December 11, 2013. Mr. van Poelvoorde served as the Chief Executive Officer of Flat Carbon Europe Business Division North at ArcelorMittal since May 2008 until December 11, 2013. Mr. Van Poelvoorde served as Director of Technology at ArcelorMittal Bremen GmbH. He has been working for the steel and mining sector for the 28 years. He started his professional career in 1989 at Sidmar as Process Automation Manager and Project Engineer. He served as General Manager of the Engineering Department at Stahlwerke. At Arcelor, Mr. Van Poelvoorde was member of the Management Board and the Chief Operation Officer, as well as the General Manager of the Central Maintenance Department and Logistics. He moved to Stahlwerke Bremen in 1995 to take up the position of Senior Project Manager responsible for the implementation of the investment plan until 1998. From 1998 to 2002, he was successively heading up a number of departments, including the Electrical Maintenance of the hot strip mill, the Engineering department and the Central Maintenance, Transportation and Logistics department. Since 2003, he served as Director of Stahlwerke Bremen, responsible for Operations and Engineering. Since July 2005, He served as Chief Operating Officer primary of ArcelorMittal. He served as Chief Executive Officer of ArcelorMittal Gent with direct responsibility for primary Operations. Since June 1, 2009 he served as Chief Executive Officer of the Business Division North within FCE. He has been Other External Director of Gestamp Automoci??n, S.A. since June 29, 2015. He serves as Member of supervisory Board and Director at ArcelorMittal Bremen GmbH. He serves as a Director of Holding Gonvarri. Mr. Van Poelvoorde is member of the management bodies of certain companies belonging to the AcerlorMittal Group and in companies participated by ArcelorMittal, including Bamesa Otel, Bor??elik ??elik, Borusan Demir, Bamesa Celi??. He is Director of the German Steel Federation. He graduated from the University of Gent, Belgium, with a Degree in Civil Engineering Electronics. He holds a Master degree in Electrotechnical Engineering from the University of Gent, Belgium.
