8 out of 10
Was in a company acquired and would say they were decent to us, but now they're outsourcing us. Have enjoyed my time there, and pretty much everyone I've worked with has been great. What's the vibe like in the Operations dept at BAE Systems? How many hours are you working?
Swing shifts (12 hour rotation). The vibe isn't the best and many people are miserable at work, but have not other place to go and do not want to start over, sad situation. The leadership from team leader and above promotes more of a dictatorship company than one that empowers employees. They are out for themselves and treat group leaders and operators like pee on's that should kiss their feet
How's the leadership on the Operations team at BAE Systems?
Leadership is a absolute joke from the Team Leader position and above. They delegate everything down so they do not do their own job and the managers are more worried about their yearly bonus than their operators. Safety is not a first for TL and managers unless they can use it against someone. Procedures are supposed to be followed strictly, but when you do you hear a lot of flack from supervision and threats of insubordination if you go against what they want vs what the procedure says to do.
What's the pay like for Operations roles at BAE Systems?
It is a way lower rate than many other corporations that deal with defense contracts as well as many other Fortune 500 companies. The "cost of living" raises received on a yearly basis is based on a buddy system and not well managed by higher managers for fairness through employee evaluations. Bae, in the US, is divided into 4 sections of pay from east to west cost and that depends on the cost of living for the area; but the 4th is the lowest paid and most of the employees in operations struggle to pay bills because of the low pay. I would suggest another company before coming here unless BAE is your only option.
What's the IT team like at BAE Systems?
IT Team is not terrible. Some really bright people, but they've lost a lot of people due to lots of impending layoffs.
