we do group interviews and team excercise

talking to the technical people who work on projects that make money for the company

Questions were not standardized, everything was specific to the job at hand rather than checking HR boxes on a form. Very efficient, quick turnaround on hiring decisions and negotiations.

I met several of the people I now work with

They did not ask textbook questions that have no real value. All the behavioral questions had a tie into the job in question. This meant I did not have to recall some situation that has no value to the job at-hand. Purposeful questions pertinent to the job.

The interviewer explained the job responsibilities as a starting point for the interviewee. Good way to start.
