Executive Bio

Mr. R. Michael Mohan, also known as Mike, has been Chief Merchandising and Marketing Officer at Best Buy Co., Inc. since March 2017 and its Senior Executive Vice President since May 25, 2016. In this role, Mr. Mohan manages the category management supply chain, merchandising and marketing functions for U.S. business, including category growth strategies, vendor relationships, private label business, merchandise assortment and marketing strategy, branding and execution. He served as the Chief Merchandising Officer of Best Buy Co., Inc. since January 2014. He joined Best Buy in February 2004 as a Vice President of the Digital Imaging Business Group, assuming additional responsibilities through his career, covering nearly all product/business categories at Best Buy and served as its Enterprise Senior Vice President since April 2008 and its President of the Home Business Group from January 2013 to 2016. He has nearly 30 years of retail and management experience, including launching partnerships with leading consumer brands to create the within-store Magnolia and Pacific Kitchen & Home concepts. He oversees a broad range of technology products and services and is accountable for the direction of Best Buy's home business group in the U.S. Before joining Best Buy, Mr. Mohan served as Vice President and General Merchandise Manager of Good Guys, Inc., an audio/video specialty retailer with 71 stores in the western United States since July 2003. Prior to joining Good Guys in 1997, Mr. Mohan worked at Canada-based Future Shop from 1988 to 1997 in various positions, departing as senior category manager for audio, responsible for Future Shop's expansion in Canada and entry into the U.S. market. Mr. Mohan joined Good Guys in 1997 as Senior Category Manager for car audio, later assuming responsibility for home audio. He has been an Independent Director of Bloomin' Brands, Inc. since October 20, 2017. He has been Member of Executive Board at Consumer Electronics Association since January 1, 2015. He has been a Member of Board of Industry Leaders at Consumer Electronics Association since June 6, 2013. He has also lead the evolution of Best Buy's private-label, fitness devices and connected home products. Mr. Mohan serves as a trustee for the Boys & Girls Clubs of America.
