Was told the company would double in size and there was great opportunity to advance. This never happened, and in fact the company shrunk due to repeated layoffs for no real reason (financially doing very well), and so there is no psychological safety at all.

Make decisions. Don't rely on management consultants to make decisions for you.

There is really nothing to be happy at at work, especially in the engineering org.

Ship new products if you want to. Investing in your employees, don't assume that they can't learn something new.
