CarGurus Compensation Employee Reviews

What is the best part about your compensation package?

RSU, Bonus, fair wage on top of all the benefits I have

Review from HR Dept

In addition to great benefits, the free snacks and coffee stations in the office is amazing!

Review from Finance Dept

Total compensation is competitive on industry standard.

Review from Design Dept

I have three: Free lunch, commuter benefit, and flexible in office time.

Review from Finance Dept

The salary growth in the sales department motivates you to "climb the ladder"

Review from Sales Dept

Bonus and restricted stock units

Review from Engineering Dept

Its very fair, and encourages extra volume

Review from Sales Dept

PTO and flexible work arrangement

Review from Product Dept

The commission structure is good, I like how it incentivizes people in sales to try and get as many KPIs as possible to earn a nice commission check each month

Review from Sales Dept

I would say that the best part of my compensation package is probably uncapped commission, for me I love the chase and that is motivating for me

Review from Sales Dept

All in comp is competitive

Review from Sales Dept

The transportation benefit is the best part and I like the RSU

Review from Product Dept

The base salary is competitive.

Review from Sales Dept

Anything that could come up in real life during my workday, CarGurus already has resources to support. We are thought of in aspects I have never experienced. Lunch, snacks, wellness spaces, occasional options to see a masseuse, chiropractor, etc. right in our building. It's really incredible.

Review from Business Development Dept

I value the restricted stock units and annual bonuses because I am invested in the company

Review from Product Dept

The time off, flexible work schedule, and annual bonus opportunities come first to mind when I think about the best parts of our compensation package.

Review from Marketing Dept

The multiplier structure after 120%

Review from Sales Dept

The opportunity to contribute time and effort that is generously compensated.

Review from Sales Dept

It is realistic and achievable to reach the OTE

Review from Sales Dept

The daily $15 lunch stipend!

Review from HR Dept

Why do you feel undervalued and what would make you feel better about your compensation?

Higher comp, more. wfh days

Review from Sales Dept

Base salary isnt as high as you see with some other tech companies

Review from Marketing Dept

higher salary base for compensation

Review from Sales Dept

I have been here on the National Team since a October 7th and I still don’t have a comp Plan of any kind I can reference and my manager is working very hard to resolve - but I want to have a strong s

Review from Sales Dept

Below industry standards for sales managers salary & OTE

Review from Sales Dept

Such a low base salary, on top of only getting paid out for my commission every 4 months. I only have enough to live and pay my bills; not to save for my future.

Review from Customer Success Dept

more definitive commission compensation for established paying accounts

Review from Sales Dept

The compensation package is lower than most tech companies in Boston for AE roles.

Review from Sales Dept

I do not feel undervalued, comp packages are just lower than the average in our area

Review from Sales Dept

Clawbacks are very demotivating. With CGR now being a component of our comp plan we are getting hit twice.

Review from Sales Dept

I feel our sales reps should be at top of market OTE.

Review from Sales Dept

In increase of 10-15% for lower to middle management

Review from Customer Success Dept

I do not feel undervalued, however our position at the 50th percentile needs to be revaluated.

Review from HR Dept

I didn't feel comfortable negotiating pay in my hiring process and look forward to the review cycle to reconsider my compensation.

Review from Engineering Dept

My current compensation is below my base pay at my previous role. Other benefits help to compensate, but the high cost of living in the Boston area makes the lower compensation a challenge.

Review from Customer Success Dept

More PTO and/or company holidays

Review from Engineering Dept

I think a baseline of higher paying salary. Especially where we live in Boston, 45k is not really a livable wage. For some context, I was managing a small local owned coffee shop and my baseline salary pay was much higher than this plus was able to collect tips which allowed me to live comfortably.

Review from Sales Dept

More base salary, unlimited PTO

Review from Engineering Dept

when quotas go up that means pay outs go down. Quotas went up on average over 20% from last year. That means payout went down at the same rate. Im not expecting OTE to raise to 20% like quotas but something small to make the payout percentage drop not so drastic. even a 1% OTE bump would show caring

Review from Sales Dept

I would like more pay transparency within our team and the different levels
