What's one thing you wish you'd known before joining CarGurus?

Yes, it would have been helpful meeting my manager before actually joining the group. Cargurus originally had a system that was not team-base hiring - meaning you were interviewed and then assigned to the team next in line for a new hire. They have since moved away from this.

Open office, standing desks, glass fish-bowl-like conference rooms
Open, full of light, tons of windows, big workstations with adjustable standing desks, Lots of open space for collaboration, cool art!

Can't think of anything "unique"
Free catered lunch every day, gym membership, parking subsidies, happy hours, game room, fully loaded kitchen, tuition reimbursement, 401(k) with match and everything else he would hope for!
What kind of people succeed at CarGurus?
People who can put their head down, ignore change (even though it's not always in the client's best interest), people motivated mainly by money (helping car dealers is only gratifying for so long), and those who are motivated by free lunch, beer, and cold brew on-tap.

Could always be better, but pretty decent. Seven female VPs. Solid Asian and South Asian representation, but we could do better on people of color. Working on it!

It's a fun young bunch of folks. Hard driving sales culture on both the acquisitions (new businss) desk as well as the dealer relations desk (upsells/renewals). Cold brew on tap, catered lunches, company logo'd patagonias. It's mostly positive stuff.
