Sustainability and Corporate Social Responsibility at Citrix

From the very beginning, almost 30 years ago, Citrix has created technology that allows you to get work done from anywhere on any device – while reducing energy consumption. Citrix virtualization and networking products help alleviate the energy impact of equipment needed to serve the datacenter and the desktop, while file sharing and electronic signature products help reduce the use of paper and mail. As our products help people and businesses be more sustainable, we also set up our offices and facilities to reduce energy and waste, and our employees globally work to minimize their ecological footprint.

Environmental Sustainability

Citrix creates modern workplaces that are collaborative, engaging, and economical, while being environmentally sustainable. Investments in sustainable design features and green operations go into the development and expansion of all of our offices. We are firm believers in the triple bottom line – measuring our social, environmental, and financial success.

The real estate team identifies and addresses opportunities to reduce our carbon footprint, use alternative energy, and source green furniture, fixtures, and equipment. When we build or renovate offices, we follow LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) principles. As an example, our Raleigh, North Carolina office – an adaptive use of an abandoned warehouse – achieved LEED Gold designation.

Global renovations include sustainable design elements such as maximizing natural light, adding motion sensors, installing light dimmers and timers, converting to LED fixtures, leveraging solar panels, automating controls to reduce consumption and waste, and optimizing HVAC and lab equipment for minimal power draw. Larger offices include photovoltaic electricity and water heaters that run on thermal solar. Our Bangalore office received a prestigious national award in energy management and conservation for our implementation of sustainability programs and 85% use of renewable energy.
