Mr. Backes has been in the energy industry since 1998 and represented energy companies in various capacities while in private practice. He joined DCP in 1998. He joined the Predecessor Company in April 1998 as Senior Attorney. He was Senior Associate Attorney at LeBoeuf, Lamb, Greene & MacRae, LLP and was its attorney from 1993 to 1998, focusing on mergers and acquisitions and regulatory matters in the energy industry. He began his career in 1987 with Kelly Stansfield & O'Donnell as an associate attorney. He is a Member of the Denver Bar Association, Colorado Bar Association, American Bar Association, Rocky Mountain Mineral Law Foundation, Colorado Oil & Gas Association and the American Corporate Counsel Association. Mr. Backes earned a bachelor's degree in business management and a Juris Doctorate with distinction from the University of North Dakota.
