Q&A With Delphix Employees

Asked to all employees at Delphix

  • We love our CEO. They communicate very well and share the direction, the status and the goals of the company very openly.

  • The CEO is a wonderful person, but often lacks vision. The drive of the earlier management who began with the company as a startup often derails what could be a successful company. The CEO doesn’t have the strength to counter this and do the right thing.

  • I believe most employees believe in our CEO and I believe he is performing above expectations for a company of this size and with demanding goals.

The work/life balance is excellent for most at the company, but a due to weak delegation, a few members of teams can be over-allocated. A clear diagram of time tracking and adjustment as schedules become askew would be beneficial to all, ensuring the company retains the great people it has.

  • Very fair.

  • The work life balance is fantastic for most at Delphix. The company tries to balance out demand with social activities and the employees are very close knit among teams.

Management is still in startup mode and needs to adjust to a stronger delegation style. More advanced training in direction and goal setting would benefit all. The company has a very strong culture and inward support system, but communication is weak outside the CEO office and this impacts the company vision. There are a lot of "manifestos" but few actionable directions to demonstrate to employees how they can help make the company more profitable outside of sales and marketing. If the culture wishes to improve, an increase in daily communication vs. huge announcements and more delegation and inclusion in the vision at a technical level, not just marketing. Very few employees seem to understand Delphix's place in the market and who we're viewed .

  • Be honest with those in the company- are you trying to IPO or just come up with a brand that someone wants to buy out? Culture and startup perks can’t hide when someone is lying to the employees. There is a mass exodus going on inside and its because those figuring out what’s up don’t want to be there when the gig is up.

  • Have the impressive HQ culture be more inclusive of those that are outside of HQ.

  • Microsoft and the cloud opportunities are growing the fastest. The biggest anchor to Delphix are existing customers afraid of tomorrow’s technology and want to continue on what they have today.

  • Due to the salespeople's direction and partner initiatives, Oracle is a huge focus area.

Asked to all employees at Delphix

  • Too many interviews with individuals that don’t matter in the long run. Many in leadership positions without decision making skills which result in the wrong people in the wrong positions and loss of talent that should have been chosen.

  • Delphix is great at getting the entire team involved in the interview process, but at times, its unnecessary and can delay or impact the ability to snag the best candidates for the job. Weeks or even months can go by, then when reminded, last minute requests for more interviews due to time elapsing. Setting up a clear set of follow up dates and a set of requirements vs. changing the role as the interview progresses might assist in eliminating some of this.

Asked to the IT Department at Delphix

  • Although the product covers a number of database platforms, you will need to have strong backup and recovery knowledge and a strong knowledge of VMWare will help. I’m assuming you’re looking at support or services vs. engineering and due to this, I would say strong scripting skills, including Posh, (power shell) shell scripting and the cloud knowledge.
