Executive Bio

Mr. Nathaniel Pieper, also known as Nat, has been Senior Vice President - Global Alliances at Delta Air Lines, Inc. since June 2017 and served as its Senior Vice President of Europe, Middle East and Africa since August 2015 until June 2017. Mr. Pieper is responsible for all activities related to Delta's 1300 mainline and regional aircraft, including strategy, analysis, acquisition, disposition and fleet capital investments. He joined Delta's management team in November 2008 following Delta's merger with Northwest Airlines. Mr. Pieper served as Vice President of Fleet Strategy and Transactions at Delta Air Lines until July 2015. Additionally, he has been instrumental in the development and implementation of Delta's fleet optimization strategy, which features opportunistic acquisition of effective, proven technology aircraft to replace inefficient flying, enhancing the customer experience and improving cost performance. He served as Vice President of Alliances of Northwest Airlines Corp. from August 22, 2005 to October 2008. He was responsible for Northwest's global alliance strategy and partnerships, including the airline's highly successful joint venture with KLM Royal Dutch Airlines and Northwest's membership in the SkyTeam alliance. Mr. Pieper joined Northwest in 1997. Since 2003, he served as Managing Director of financial planning and analysis, with responsibilities for labor analysis, long-range financial planning and fleet planning. Mr. Pieper earned an MBA from Northwestern University's Kellogg School of Management in finance, strategy and transportation management and a BA in history from Duke University.
