Dish Network under Erik as the CEO has gone through two major layoff. The first one occurred in 2018-2019 and word for the layoffs/fired was that Dish had too many people employed at their sites. (Mind you that dish network outsources most of their customer service jobs as contracts to the Philippines.) After this happened with sites running at less than half staff and having to work ET (extra time, dish doesn't like to call it overtime) due to channel takedowns. Dish decides to buy boost mobile because they are wanting to branch out since in box tv with contracts are dying out and mostly used by rural areas. Once Covid hit the states in March many of my friends who had computers and software setup in their homes to take phones calls and help customers started to be let go/fired. Friends of mine then had to fight tooth n nail to get unemployment benefits because dish network will fight you to make sure you don't get it. Layoffs/firing from dish network will only become more common.
A Friend of a friend told me her significant other got laid off November 1st 2019 after almost or just over 10 years in IT with Dish. Due to HR department (strictly going after those that "made too much money". Hearsay: About 2000 got cut (laid-off/fired). others will be hired in at half the the pay. Myself: Don't know why I haven't heard about this on local Denver news channels. Whatever happened to good work getting re-warded and employees contributions being recognized?
Recently there have not been many, it was very commonplace 3-5 years ago
