Executive Bio

Mr. Daniel J. Schmechel, also known as Dan, has been the Chief Financial Officer of Ecolab Inc. since October 1, 2012 and has been its Treasurer since January 2017. Mr. Schmechel served as Senior Vice President and Principal Accounting Officer of Ecolab Inc. until April 15, 2008. He served as Controller of Ecolab Inc. from April 2002 to April 15, 2008 and served as its Treasurer from January 2001 to March 2002 and Vice President since July 1999. Previously, Mr. Schmechel served as Senior Vice President of Services and Systems as well as the Interim Head of Ecolab's Global Supply Chain; Senior Vice President and Chief Transformation Officer for Europe, the Middle East and Africa at Ecolab. Mr. Schmechel joined Ecolab in 1995 as an Assistant Treasurer. Mr. Schmechel served various financial positions with Exxon Corporation. He began his career with Amoco Production Company as a Petroleum Geologist. He served as Chairman of the Dale Warland Singers and Management Assistance Project for Nonprofits. Mr. Schmechel served as Chairman of the Conference Board Council of Corporate Treasurers. He serves as a Director of the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra. Mr. Schmechel received a Bachelor's Degree from Yale University and a Master's Degree in Business Administration from the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College.
