Executive Bio
Mr. James J. Seifert, also known as Jim, has been an Executive Vice President of Ecolab Inc. since October 2011 and served as its General Counsel since May 2010. Mr. Seifert has been Secretary of Ecolab Inc. since May 2010. He is responsible for all legal, regulatory, government relations and safety matters. Mr. Seifert oversees Ecolab departments, including Law, Regulatory Affairs, Government Relations and Safety, Health and Environment. Mr. Seifert served as Vice President of Bemis Company, Inc. since 2002 and served as its Secretary and General Counsel from 2002 to June 17, 2010 and Assistant Secretary since 2002. He served as Vice President, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary of Tennant Company from 1999 to 2002, Assistant General Counsel of The Toro Co. from 1994 to 1999, Senior Attorney of The Toro Co. from 1990 to 1994 and Assistant General Counsel at Amdura Corp. from 1985 to 1990. He served as Senior Vice President of Ecolab. He also held law department positions with the Toro Company, Tennant Company and American Hoist and Derrick. Mr. Seifert also served as Federal Public Defender, a Legal Aid Attorney and taught several years at the William Mitchell College of Law and served in the Minnesota House of Representatives. He has been a Director of Nalco Holding Company since December 1, 2011. He has been a Director of New Ulm Telecom, Inc. since May 25, 2017. He served as a Trustee of Twin Cities Public Television, Inc. Mr. Seifert serves on the board of the American Arbitration Association, the board of the Minnesota Job Skills Partnership and the Advisory Board of Creighton University School of Law. He has represented large public companies for thirty-two years and has extensive experience in government affairs and government relations, including service in the minnesota house of representatives where he was named first-term legislator of the year, was vice-chairman of the civil law committee and a member of the health and human services finance and policy committee and the commerce committee. he has a deep commitment to community service and has a long record of volunteering for non-profit organizations. He was also past chairman of riverwood district, northern star council and boy scouts of america. He was the dean's advisory board at the university of st. thomas law school. He served as a Member of the Dean's Advisory Council at the Humphrey Institute of Public Affairs at the University of Minnesota. He serves on the board of trustees of the Science Museum of Minnesota. Mr. Seifert holds a Bachelor's Degree from the University of Notre Dame, a Master's Degree in Manufacturing Systems from the University of St. Thomas and a Juris Doctor Degree from Creighton University.
