Communication
There are no stock options for global director level, which is a standard elsewhere. There is a very low concern about retention so long term incentive plans are only given to those who are the highest performers, which is a very unusual rating for most people.
Have a natural and independent thought.
The culture propagated by the management is the real problem. The co-workers are just not motivated to do their best and to be their best selves. The usual toxic management style curtails people's eagerness to go to work and thus their interactions with colleagues.
Non-punitive environment and implementing a servant leader policy along with zero tolerance for jerks
It is a German company with a German-first attitude. The US staff is not equal to German staff and many of the decisions that are made are unilateral. Opportunities for growth are non-existant for US staff, especially if you are female.

Customers often don't even know EMD Serono, despite being the oldest pharma company in the world. The R&D staggered for too many years, but it is catching-up recently.
